Hi all!

I have been looking at a new PC around the £1000-£1200 mark and have came up with the following after some advice on this forum and my own research which has hit just over the top end of the budget. Could you recommend any changes to go with this?

Ideally I would like to get this as close to £1000 as possible, and have a 1TB SSD.

My Basket at Overclockers:

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B32 £109.99

Seasonic M12II-520 EVO 520W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £72.95

NZXT H510 Midi Tower Gaming Case - Black Tempered Glass £89.99

MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI (AMD AM4) DDR4 X570 Chipset ATX Motherboard £199.99

Asus GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER Dual EVO ADVANCED 8192MB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card £419.99

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Eight Core 4.4GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail £299.99

Intel 660P 512GB M.2-2280 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe QLC 3D NAND Solid State Drive (SSDPEKNW512G8X1) £79.99

Total: £1286.09 (inc shipping: £13.20)

Thanks in advance for all your help and support!

What is it gonna be used for gaming, streaming, editing etc?

Keep an eye on the new MSI X570 Tomahawk. Been hearing good things and hopefully it is as good as B450 Tomahawk.
You can get a Crucial P1 1TB for about £100. Both are very similar performace.
Savings can be made on the RAM. Unless you really want to squeeze every last drop of performance in term of overclocking
Unless you really to go for Nvidia, an RX 5700XT is good alternative. All round better performance for similar or a little extra money

It will be used for gaming, with longevity in mind.

B450 Tomahawk, would this (or the X570 Tomahawk you mention) provide better "bang for buck" as it were?

Crucial P1 1TB sounds good. I don't expect any more requirements than 1TB & could add additional in the future I guess?

I don't plan to overclock, so perhaps a different RAM could be used. Do you have any suggestions?

I don't have to go with Nvidia - I will check the RX 5700XT out!

What would make the best in terms of not losing performance, but saving money from my list - or something that could easily be upgraded in the next year or two?

Thanks again!

In that case the B450 Tomahawk will be perfectly fine. Just check it has all the connectors and ports you require. Nothing really wrong going for upper class X570 board, just potentially savings. Any 3000/3200 Mhz RAM from a decent brand will be fine. In terms of gaming performance then the RAM and Motherboard is not too important, providing you are not overclocking and you are at least 3000 Mhz speed RAM.

The RX 5700 XT and the RTX 2060 Super are the best value for money, with a slight edge to the RX 5700 XT. The next step up is RTX 2070 Super. While this is all round better than the RX 5700 XT the 2070 Super is generally poor value for money in comparison.

Where is it? I want it now! Pleeease.
I've seen rumoured dates of 14th and 17th of May.

If it lives up the reviews posted online (based on presumably engeering samples sent to the influencers and reviewers) then this could be the go to x570 board as it has 2.5gb ethernet, decent VRMs, 2 x m2 slots and for around £200.

The current MSI x570 motherboards have reviewed poorly so I'd be looking at a x570 Tuf or the Gigabyte Aurous Elite at around the £200 price point.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to provide a nice linked up basket suggesting an MSI b450 tomahawk, along with a seasonic gx550 power supply and some Patriot Viper ram. That along with a 5700xt should trim some extra money off your spec.

What resolution and refresh rate do you game at?

I have the following monitor, which i know currently will mean I won't get the maximum out of the upgrade I am planning, however in about a year when funds permit I intend to upgrade / dual screen to a more fitting monitor:

One of the key aspects of me going for the MSI x570 motherboard is the wifi capability, which, and correct me if I am wrong, the B450 tomahawk doesn't have? What would the repurcussions of this be, as my current set up will not allow a wired connection (which would be the preffered choice, but I can't change this until I move house)

How realistic is getting it to around the £1000 mark? Or do I need to revaluate?

Setup looks great. Either looks great. You just need to decide if the 2 extra cores is worth the extra £120. Many people have different opinions whether you need 6 core or 8 cores for gaming purposes.

I will say get the 8 cores cause I believe games industry will move that direction cause of the new Ps5 and Xbox. Also 8 cores can be useful for game streaming if you start doing that.

I'd personally go with an 8 core for a system I'm keeping for a few years.

As said above, consoles are moving to 8c/16t but at a reduced frequency. I'd rather have the 8c/16t so that other background apps can be run as that's one thing consoles don't have to worry about.

Thank you everyone! At the moment I am swaying towards the top one that Adam123 suggested - am I right in saying that this is better future proofed?

Also will the MSI X570 Tomahawk be worth the extra the approx. £70 compared to the B450 Gaming Pro, if it lives up to the expectations?

Also, I probably wont be in a position to buy until July / August - is there anything else coming out on the horizon which I should be looking at possibly switching into / making things slightly cheaper?

Finally, and this is where my naivety comes into play....how do I know all of this is compatible? This is my first build, so would be utilising plenty of online walkthroughs to support me (and the forums here ofcourse!)
