Been the cheap ass that I am, I bought my this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-136-OE

I had to RMA it because it wouldn't post.
I got a e-mail saying the problem was a "incorrect configuration" and the item was returned "fixed".

Now I did e-mail them before I got the item back asking what "incorrect configuration" meant and I got a reply saying "They believed the BIOS was reset."
That wasn't really a good answer but I thought that might be the best I was gonna get out of the CS team.

I got my item back today and with glee I built it back up to find it still has the same problem!

I'm seeking advice while I wait for CS to reply to me.

Have you tried it out of the case to make sure you have no shorts etc, double checked you got all the PSU connections for the board in (24pin, 4/8 cpu one too)?
When you say it wont POST are you getting any signs of life at all?

better to just let support deal with it tbh, we can give advice but only them can fix it

Well theres nothing to stop him trying to rule out other things other than the bundle while he waits on a reply, especially as its been back once already. Its not as if its a pre built system hes bread boarding, could be something as simple as a stray spacer so god knows why he couldnt do some trouble shooting (and save themselves some return postage to boot).

Thank you both for your replys.

DOH, DOH DOH DOH.... Just found a ATX 12v that I didn't connect.... Problem is there are 8 pins and not the 4 that I have on my old XPs420...
Would i be correct in thinking these are labeled CPU 1/2 on my PSU ?

A little advice to this mega noob :p

EDIT very sorry about this noobish-ment... I thought since my old pc takes 20 pins + one ATX at the top of the board the new one would take the full 24 and no ATX

Does this mean it requires BOTH ATX's in or just the one ?

I feel such an idiot right now... :/

true, but as he has already asked support and waits for a reply, if it is found to be faulty again then may even pick it up for him so no cost either as second fault etc.

support here is second to none, and yes i've used it more than a few times, as stuff breaks and goes wrong, that's life.

if i could advice, offer advice etc i would, but not enough info to go on for me to do anything.

rebuild it, re check it, then double check again, take off cpu and replace, reseat all ram etc, just have power to board and leave off hdd/dvdrw for now etc and keep trying as it's either something simple or something you can't fix, so either way good luck

have plenty of rests, get another pair of eyes to look if you can...

Im sure the new motherboard takes a 24pin cable on the right, and an 8pin at the top left.

it depends on your PSU, but you will need, either 20/24 or 4/8 pin, see what you have.

Am I correct in thinking that the ATX needs both cpu 1 and 2 in? Or should I just plug one in and see if it boots ?

I'm really grateful and sorry for all of this confusion and noobish stuff.

You will need the 24 pin plugged in on the right hand side and the 8 pin in the top left.

Both need to be in
