About to press the button on a new build as the PC I have is now 6 years old. Before I press the button on this is there anything obvious I have got wrong/any changes that should be made?.. advice appreciated.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,473.79 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Yeh just noticed the free 480gb ssd.Was going to use the M2 for operating system and the 1TB for general storage. Should i dump the M2 and just use the free one for the operating system?

my 2p...compared to the original build:

1) went with (arguably) the best atx b450 board, also has inbuilt wifi
2) better ram
3) vega 64, instead of vega 56
4) better quality psu
5) swapped the ssd around - cheaper
6) don't really need an aftermarket cooler per se, as the amd stock cooler is relatively decent.
7) cheaper case, better airflow
8) extra fans (case only comes with 1 fan), also fantastic value bundle
9) £100 cheaper

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,371.97 (includes shipping: £14.10)

if you want a mini-itx build to switch it up, use the spec above with this board instead:
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £135.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

and this case:
Metallic Gear Neo-G mini.
I won't tell you where to get it from, but here's the review: https://bit-tech.net/reviews/tech/cases/metallicgear-neo-g-mini-review/1/ ;)
It's the Neo-G mini that you'll want to get - costs £70, not the Neo mini

total cost of this ITX build is around the same price as my ATX spec above...

that's given me something to think about. Good
shout on the 1tb ssd. Regarding the msi mobo I didn't even see it, what is the advantage of the built in wifi? My router is next to the PC so i have always just cabled directly to PC.

Regarding the stock cooler any idea what the noise levels are like on it. My curent PC has an antec cooler in it and although it is ageing (6 years) I have always loved the quietness of it.

Push the Windforce Vega , either 64 or 56.

PCB design is much better the Pulse, Nitro or Dragon cards by far, it's a 12+1 phase design Vs 6+1/7+1 of the others .

Would still choose x370 Strix board over the MSI B450, though WiFi comes in handy. Not sure when new Strix B450 gets released but sure is a beast , something like 6 doubled phase design . Ouch ...

Intel version for max performance , but at extra cost

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,399.96 (includes shipping: £14.10)

To be fair that intel option look very good too..... now im totally in a spin!!.. need to go back to the drawing board on this one now.

if you're using an ethernet cable straight to the pc, then, nothing really.

x370 strix-f is 6 phase, b450 gaming pro carbon ac is 4x2 phase, b450i gaming plus ac is 6 phase vrm
TBH, i'd rather get the mitx b450i gaming plus ac lol

nitro has a better cooler though :P

but we're all arguing semantics here. any of these parts will perform within a couple % of each other it's really negligible... :D

OK here is where I am upto after another look this morning. I've stuck with the Kraken AIO as a quick look at the stock amd cooler suggests its a hairdryer and I do want it to be quiet. Swapping out the more expensice SSD and mobo also enables me to go for the vega 64 vs 56 so good shout there. I have removed the power supply and decided to stick with the corsair 850w i currently have, whilst it is a few years old it has been rock solid.

No doubt during the the next few days i will change my mind again but for now this looks like a decent option for a pc that will last another few years.

Tamzzy your final statement is bang on there and this is probably why i am having so much trouble with the final configuration. the comments upto now have been very helpful from everyone and led to me being able to go for the vega 64 for arounf the same money all ready!!

i still cant help thinking that the msi board with the wifi on it is a waste for me as I'm unlikely to ever use it.. any opinions on the msi B450 tomahawk as a slightly cheaper alternative?

if that's the case, better to get the bundle instead. better board (x370) and can sell/use the extra ssd. up to you.
there's still a slight cost penalty (ie the bundle is more expensive) - but that's for the better board

i'd just change the psu anyway, seeing it's nearly seen a decade's worth of use...capacitor wear and all that jazz...
if it were my money, this would be what i'd get:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,283.58 (includes shipping: £11.70)

and the neo-g as mentioned above: https://bit-tech.net/reviews/tech/cases/metallicgear-neo-g-mini-review/1/
the cooler is out of stock at ocuk, but can be had for about the same price (a quick google will show where)

if you want to spend the full £1500, then intel i7 9700k isn't a bad shout either, as per @orbitalwalsh 's spec (but you lose that upgrade path that AM4 allows)
