New build, slight problem.

Set up my new build yesterday.

Windows 7
Asus rampage III extreme
i7 950 @ 4.2ghz
6 Gig Corsair XMS3
2 x GTX 480
Lg blu-ray RW
samsung 1tb HDD
Crucial 64 gig ssd
Antec Truepower Quattro 1200w
Prolimatech Megahalems, Akasa Viper fans, push and pull
Haf x Case

The only problem i had was when i switched off the power at the mains. When i switched it back on and then the pc, it cut the power, i had to put it back on at the breaker. What do you think could cause this. Maybe a faulty socket ?
 
I am guessing you mean the breaker in you fuse box.

If it is a MCB "main circuit breaker" it triped due to an overload ie too much current.

If it is an RCD It triped because of a short.


If you tell me what type it is I can give you more info.
 
Im not too sure, i think its a MCB, One of the buttons popped out. It doesnt do it when the socket is left on, and even at that it doesnt do it everytime its off and then switched back on.

It will be written on the breaker.

Sounds like it could be caused by a spike as you PSU powers up. What is the rateing of the breaker? (Writen on the front) and what else is pluged into that ring? It should be labled and you useualy have one for each floor.
 
Im not in my house at the moment, but i could pm you tomorrow if you wouldnt mind, ill let you know. If its a spike, is there anyway of stopping it.
 
yes reduce the load on the breaker.
A 32amp breaker will trip at 7360W
You PSU will probably spike over 1200W when you first switch on. one option is to not turn the power supply off as it quite safe to leave them on.

I am on my last shift tonight and will be in all day tomorrow ( got to finish building my new pc :) )
 
Its the one in my sig little under £500 including the HD4860 still to come. I am praying the onboard graphics has enougth umph to let me play MW2 while I wait for it... only got the wire management to do. I chucked it together quickly befor work so I could get it downloading from steam :D

Next month when I get payed im gonna get a decent cooler and some extra case fans and overclock it too :D
