Started the computer up earlier trying to install an o/s get to the bit where it you chose the bios menu or the boot menu when i go to press f12 or del it wont do anything? Any idea much appreciated thanks!

What keyboard are you using? Wireless?

Most motherboards support USB keyboard in the BIOS though.

What happens after it prompts for BIOS or boot menu?

it lets me press tab which goes to the post screen and displays the information then just goes blank! Its a wireless keyboard but tab works!

I would suggest you beg steal or borrow a USB keyboard might be a delay in the time it takes to connect wirelessly.

If you just leave it it should either boot from the CD or say no boot media (or words to that effect) it not doing that implies there could be a bigger problem than the keyboard. Check your connections to your HDD and CD/DVD

ive tried a ps2 keyboard (think thats right the ones that plug in the purple port in the back) ill try making sure all the connections are pushed in. thanks

How very odd, you should at least be getting the "no boot media" message. I would suggest then disconnecting the hard drives and DVD drive as well as any other peripherals to see if it goes past post then.

Might also be worth clearing the CMOS.

I imagine so unless they do something clever when setting the BIOS. It could be the overclock causing the problem though. Try disconnecting the CD and HDD and anything else first so basicly you just got RAM,CPU,mobo and GFX

*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5300 @ 3.20GHz / Gigabyte GA-P43-ES3G Intel P43 Motherboard / Corsair XMS2 4GB is the package i got! how do i reset the cmos cant see a jumper or a button and heard to be weary about just taking the battery out

ok i found out how to clear the cmos and still exactly the same loads the mobo splash screen then the screen goes blank and keeps flashing?! Strange!

Couple of things to check, might not make any difference but worth a shot!

Try only 1 memory module in each of the ram slots, is the 8 pin for cpu power connected, this often gets missed ;).

Its no use its gonna have to go into the shop tommorow. Thanks for all the help everyone. Wouldnt make any difference being plugged into a hdtv would it instead of a monitor?

If its anything like my htpc then that could well be your problem.
The bios screens are shown as out of range on my tv, but POST and everything thereafter are fine. To test the theory disconnect everything bar your optical drive with the OS CD loaded.
