Thanks to advice I have read and been given on these forums, I have now built my first computer! The spec is in this thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17810046&highlight=paranoia It runs my games superbly, however I have had a few odd booting troubles.
Yesterday morning I turned on my PC only for it to hang at the post screen. I restarted, it booted as normal and didn't think much of it. Later I opened the windows in my room to freshen up the air a bit. Coming back about 2 hours later I tried to turn on my PC only to get no post screen, then after restarting it hang at the post screen again like what happened earlier. Same again the next 2-3 times. After that, it crashed just after the vista logo appeared, then luckily the next time it booted successfully. I restarted a few times to see if it was a random problem, and each time the comp booted successfully.
At first I thought there's a problem with the memory, since I had to RMA the RAM I was originally sent to get the system built. However, the way these problems have occured is making me think that this occurs when the system is too cold, especially considering how grumpy it was after leaving the windows open. It's winter, my case has 3 fans and I'm not overclocking at all, so this makes sense to me.
Basically I'd like to know if this diagnosis sounds correct, whether my hardware is at risk of permanent damage, and how to prevent this from happening again. I'm not sure if I can change the fan speeds on this case, and if I am able to then how. Help on this would be much appreciated
