Would I experience any problems with compatability of these components? Advice would be appreciated.

That motherboard supports 95W CPU's maximum, meaning the PhenomII 955BE/965BE is no good.

Great help, thanks. Not sure what his case is actually, I'll need to check. Probably pretty old so might be worth upgrading that too if he can affrod it. Pretty sure he'll have an IDE optical drive at present.

Drop to the slightly slower card, the clock speeds are not that much to notice a difference, SATA DVD burner, different case and an extra fan to add to the front.
