Hi everyone. im looking for some advice, its been a long time since i last built a pc, coming from an Ivy Bridge 3770k

I have a healthy budget and want to build a monster gaming PC i have no interest in RGB but im not against it.

I want a gaming PC to last me as long as my ivybridge has.

I dont really care what it looks like just want performance. having said that if im not interested in paying hundreds extra for 0.5% extra performance

Can anyone spec a build for me, im looking at a 13900k and a 4090 but need recommendations on everything else

I wont be reusing any part of the old PC

Thanks in advance

I am not having a go at you here buddy because you have obviously come here for advice but it is really ironic that you mention 0.5% extra performance and 13900k so closely together. Like mentioned above by Tetras the 13700k is far more sensible and in games you lose very few fps and save a fair bit of cash.

The 4090 is really expensive but it is worth the money in comparison to some other gpu options.

Couple of good builds above and amd and intel options up there. You may want to consider waiting for the AMD 7000 X3D chips to be reviewed, they could soon be the best but have to wait for independent reviews.

Ok my bad guys i had a look and i will take your advice on the cpu. just in any previous builds i have always gone for best possible cpu and gpu.
ok so looking now at the 13700k tied with 4090.
i would prefer to stick with intel unless there is an actual reason to switch to amd for gaming which i cant see but i am open to correction. im no expert here guys so i will defer to your knowledge on this matter.
Basically i want a build that will do me for years, where i will likely upgrade the gpu in the future but would like to stick with the base components and ensure that they will not bottleneck the gpu ( as much as is possible). Thanks

The main reason to go AM5 is future upgradability and secondly, for the X3D (v-cache) CPUs.

The 4090 is a very fast GPU, so it is hard to say if the 13700K/13900K will have a lot left in the tank. At 4K, I believe they will take another upgrade (since the 4090 is still the bottleneck in many games at this resolution), but at 1080p, maybe not.

intel 13th gen is a dead end platform but 13th gen is better at gaming than AMD (for now).

AMD have their new X3D processors launching soon which should see a big gaming performance improvement so you might want to wait for them.

I could suggest getting a new PSU and a 4090 for your current system whilst you wait for the CPU + motherboard + RAM but that’s up to you.

I would personally suggest the 7800X3D, 32gigs of DDR5 6000 and a reasonably priced motherboard (maybe Tetras can suggest one).

You won’t need a 7900X3D or 7950X3D for very good gaming and it leaves you with an option to upgrade to an AMD 8000 X3D series CPU later on.

You have waited almost a month so you may as well wait a couple more weeks for the 7000 X3D releases. If they are amazing then you have the option for the fastests AMD build available or may even push prices down in Intel parts. If they are meh then you in same situation as you are now.

If the 7800X3D (will most likely be the most sensible choice) follows the same pattern as the 5800X3D then you may not need fast ram at all. Having faster ram with a 5800X3D made no difference to the performance so if the 7800X3D is similar you may be able to get away with slower and cheaper DDR5 than the still expensive 6000mhz modules.

If you get an X670 mobo just make sure it has all the features you need, they all perform almost identically.
