Hello everyone, I'm new 'round here
I wanted to create a new thread but couldn't find where, perhaps I need to do some posting before getting the right to create new threads?
Sorry if my question is not fully related to this subject but I hope that doesn't matter and I can get some help from you guys experts. I used to work for the tech industry about 10 years ago, I used to be a support tech for Alienware and HP, so I kinda know about PC support and upgrades but times have changed and I feel a bit lost now that I'm building my computer to start recording my progressive rock music project on it.
This is my setup:
PC: HP Elitedesk 800 g2 SFF (convenient for a small appartment)
Mobo: HP 795970-602
Processor: 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7-6700 Quad-Core
RAM: 32GB of 2133 MHz DDR4 RAM
Video: Integrated Intel HD Graphics 530
Optical drive: Supermulti DVD Writer Slim
Now, here's the thing. I have 2 SSD's (120 and 128GB), both have mirrorred OS in case one fails, To install my additional HDD (500GB) which is my main storage unit I had to disconnect the optical drive, no big deal here. Unfortunately my Mobo has only 3 SATA ports and as for music production you need A LOT of local storage and backups, I want to hook up my other 2 HDD's but I have no SATA ports left. So I bough this:
https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot...erId=8124139879409966&productId=4000527835205, which will allow me to have 2 more SATA3 ports, which is exactly what I need.
My issue is that the power cable that originally feeds the HDD and optical drive has only 3 extensions which are all taken now. Hooking up 2SSD's and one HDD was a bit hard but I managed. I noticed that even this is a SFF computer, there's plenty of room and ventilation inside. Moreover, the SDDs take almost no room and fit perfectly in one conventional HDD cage, so room and SATA connectors are not a problem. How can I get power for the new drives if all the SATA power connector are already in use?
Thank you!
Ron.
