new build / upgrade

Looking to upgrade my current setup as well as building a totally new build. I want both to be able to run online games but the old setup will be used only for mmos and the new one all games including bf3 and crysis2.

Please advise whether this setup would be ok and where i can improve .

old setup i want to improve a bit budget around 500 pounds
motherboard - gigabyte 965p-ds4
ram - 2x 1gb ddr2 266
cpu - intel core2 duo e6600(240ghz)
graphics- geforce 8400gs
monitor - hanns.g 17inch can probally stick with this

first spec looks fine, what sort of budget are you allowing for it ?

2nd spec improvement, what are you looking to use it for ?

I would seriously consider a 120gb ssd.

I plenty of people here live with a 60gb one for their OS (me included) but you do need frequent house cleaning to make sure you do not go fill it. (well I do anyway)

As for the other build I am giving it to my son since he was wanting to play tor when released but i have no idea what type of build will be capable of handling it.
