New build - what do I need to know

Will be putting together my new build soon. I haven't built a computer in a very long time and wondered if there was anything new I should be aware of.

Back in the day, you had to prat around with AHCI for hard drives and things like that....what's the deal these days?

Still set AHCI in the BIOS.

If using a SSD rin the windows experience index to disable disk defrag.
