Hi

I have done a new build with

Gigabyte Z370 Zorus Gaming 7
8700K
16Gb (2 x 8Gb) G-Skill Trident Z 3600 RAM

And the PC won't boot (won't even get to BIOS) and continually restarts if 1 stick of RAM is in one these slots. The RAM works fine in the other two slots, the issue is it won't let me dual channel using the slots that work. The last error code the motherboard shows is C1, but in the manual it just says reserved error code.

Any ideas or help?

Edit- Also I returned the RAM and happens with the new set too

Thanks in advance

What cooler are you using and how tightly have you got it secured?

There's a chance if it's a large air cooler that you may have warped the MB slightly and this can quite often affect the DIMM slots. If you do - try slackening the fixings slightly.

No bent pins that I can see

It is a Corsair H110i, tried to loosen a bit and the same happened... Assume its an RMA?

Have you cleared CMOS ?

Does it boot with one stick ?

Could it be an over clock issue, if it boots and turn overclocking OFF including XMP.

Oh..2 dimms Dual channel with 4 cores and 6 cores normally go in different slots.

Some motherboards have required first ram stick slots - with the first two populated, you may be able to get additional sticks in slots 3 and 4.

Did you have the opportunity before returning the ram to test it with the old and new sticks together?
