update, i ran just the cpu graphics and board from outside the case, mobo now gets power and all fans run, not tried in the case again yet, what would cause this problem do you think?

Does sound like a short?, have you got all the standoffs in the right places.

I did suggest that it could be shorting 10 posts ago, like I said check the spacers.

sorry for the ultra late reply! in between the computer problems I had a lot of work on, anyway I managed to get the rig up and running after testing with barebones from outside the case, after putting everything back I had it up and running in no time, since then I have a stable 4ghz OC and it flys!

Hey guys just to ask a question. When installing the pwrbutton etc, which pole does the side where the arrow is pasinted represents? + or -

I suspect it doesn't matter. You need to connect leds the right way around, the white cable to the negative. Buttons work by shorting the connection, so cable either way round works. Motherboard speakers seem to work either way round too.

Also good is a screwdriver, gently touch both contacts and the computer turns on.
