New build won't turn on :(

After receiving my parts today (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=22845442&postcount=16) I've attempted to put it all together with no luck :(

Built plenty of machines in the past so wasn't expecting any issues.

Put everything in, powered it on and no cigar - system fans do about one turn, the CPU fan jumps then nothing.

Removed everything, SSD, Graphics card, all RAM and all cables apart from the power switch and mobo power from PSU.

CPU fan jumps then nothing :(

Removed battery and cleared the CMOS by shorting the jumper - still nothing.

What's my next course of action?

Cheers,
Roy

On the cable front, you do have the main 24 pin ATX Connector and 4 pin for CPU power connected

Might be worth checking the CPU socket for any bent pins and test external to the case, just in case something is shorting.

Ok, that was def the original problem (no ATX 12v cable in). I'm now seeing the case fans start up and stay on but worryingly the CPU fan is still just doing wee jumps!

No graphics card in or SSD connected - just CPU and RAM will all motherboard cables in.

Right, switched fans around (rear case fan and CPU fan) and what happened was the CPU fan went on straight away and the case fan did the same thing the CPU fan was doing.

Because the CPU fan was spinning I was inclined to leave it running a little longer and found that the rear fan sprung to life.

Switched them back around again and sure enough if I leave it running long enough (10 seconds) the CPU fan kicks into life.

It's like it's not bothering starting until it finds the CPU is hot enough to warrant it being on.

That normal? I'm used to CPU fans starting up at full tilt THEN slowing down. Not just waiting for a bit after you power it on THEN starting...

He just said he tried that. I told him to plug it in any of the 3 pin connecters to make sure the power is getting to the fan. If it is then the cpu pins are faulty on the board. If not then fan could be faulty
