New Build - Won't Work...

I just phoned a support line and they said the RAM might not be compatible & this is the reason?
Partpicker finds not compatibility issues.....would RAM even cause the problem im having?

CPU socket seems ok.

I would be very surprised if the ram chosen does not work, but not unheard of though.

Hi, yesterday i got my very first Z97 Board, have just taken a quick look at it and yours looks to have 4 bent pins, unless it's the flash throwing me off.

In the bottom right hand corner of the centre section. That area does not look uniform.

I hope i'm wrong, i really do. :(

That's what i thought at first too but just looked at mine (it's a B grade from yourselves) and it's all uniform, all of the edges are straight.

If they are bent can they be fixed with a pair of tweezers?

Problem is if they do find bent pins then (usually) this would be classed as user damage and he would need to pay for repair / replacement. :(

Actually - if you look at the image below (posted in op) the row of pins which looked suspect in the latest image seemed suspect in this image!

Oh yes, I never looked at all his pics obviously!

They definitely seem wonky.

Well if you rma it then you get the chance to say it couldn't have been your fault and the chance to pay for repair or to have it sent back for a diy attempt.

If you try yourself straight away and fail then game over.

Surely the price of postage is worth it assuming it doesnt have to travel miles and is held to ransom.

My eyesight must be bad, i can't even see them lol. I have tried to RMA.....waiting for them to get back to me.

I really had no idea how they bent though.....there only seems to be one way to put the processor in (with the marked corner in the bottom left)? Is this fixable? :S

Also yes, the CPU came with a cover.

If you've installed the cpu as specified then go for it.

I don't see how you could do that damage without dropping something on it.

Hopefully they accept it as their problem.

I see its a Gigabyte board.

I had the misfortune to damage some pins a while ago on a new board.

I was totally honest with Gigabyte, told them I had done it and could it be repaired.

They fixed it for me FOC apart from the postage costs.

Oh I've sent the pics to the company that i bought it off. If they say no i'll contact giga.

Would bent pins definitely cause the pc to turnon+shutdown though?

Well PCs won't turn on without a CPU so it fits that it gets so far then dies as not all the CPU is visible to the motherboard.

It's just an educated guess though.
