Hi guys,

Yet another revised build, Just wanna check the compatibility of all the bits. Plus anything you can think of which will help/improve the build. The overall money is about £1600 odd and i would like to get a new monitor which is 2560x1440 i think.

4790k - got already
Kingston hyper 240gb ssd, got
Deciding on windows 8 or 7 depending if i can find my current code for windows 7.
Speakers, keyboard have already.
 
The only thing id say is the cpu cooler doesnt really fit the theme your going for. Maybe get one of the corsair coolers, then you if you feel like it you can buy some of the corsair fans with coloured rings which comes with red. But thats if your that bothered about sticking to the theme. Good choice on SSD !

Could possibly get some matte black spray paint and give the cooler a once over?
 
You could do, although you have all the tubing which is white too, personally id just opt for a diff cooler if budget allows as it might look patchy if you tried to spray is all. Cant imagine itd be easy. But im talking purely aesthetics here - but i reckon its worth doing since the op has a nice theme going with the other parts!
 
The Antec 1220 is another good option, as cheap too (if not cheaper).

Im also unsure about the 6GB 780 and the 16GB of RAM.

I think the 3GB 780 is fine, you can actually push it to a Ti (3GB) for only a note or two more.

8GB RAM is fine for gaming, though IF you are video/photo editing heavily 16GB will help. :)

Agreed. I use photoshop for heavy photo manipulations and 8gb of good quality ram is doing me fine at the moment. I might get more soon but i think 8gig is a good amount that ull rarely struggle with.

Also id just go with the 3gb 780 tbh

I use a lot of BIM software atm so the ram and SSD should help. Tbh ware going to get a amd firepro card but they cost a lot so went with something which could offer alittle boost.

Sorry, What is BIM software?

Firepro's are pretty reasonable price wise?

umm BIM (building information modeling) - this is basically a 3D model of a building with a lot of information put in it to represent lots of different aspects. The idea is that when you click on a building element on the BIM model it will be able to tell you everything you need to know, so the specs, quantity needed for the project, price,etc. thats the best way i can put it atm.

Fire pros are reasonable but everywhere only seems to have the expensive ones so i settled with going 780 as it should be ok.

Gaming wise, Yes atm im playing lots of games which my current rig is struggling with such as; Eve, Archeage, Men of war assault squad 2

Right taking feedback on and looking abit more into specs, I think this should be right. i can run the 2 screens off my 1 card right? also any additional cabling??
 
You could have a rig that wouldn't look out of place at a show for a little more and more then enough for any modern gaming title to choose to thrown at it!

I already have the processor, also i think im going to go dual screen. Also have a kingston SSD, just want a bigger one so i can store some more games/progammes on it. In relation to the GPU wouldn't the 6gb be better for dual screens over the Ti?

First off, If you have another 120GB SSD why don't you just put them in RAID 0? also most games don't really benefit from being installed on an SSD as it only really affects loading time which is pointless in games like BF4 as you will have to end up waiting for all the other players in the first place, just install your games on to a HDD. IF you really want your games to load quicker there is a better option which is to install them to a RAMDisk which is quicker then any SSD on the market (my 8GB Ramdisk current has read and writes of over 14GBPS)....

Secondly gaming at 2560x1440 the normal 3Gb GTX 780Ti will be fine or current titles but the extra VRAM will not really do you any favors really because although you have massive amounts of it to use you will be limited by the overall GPU horsepower. If gaming at this resolution across 2 monitors like 4K still currently is an sod today even with the VRAM you may have issues, SLI would be a better route imho but that does have it's draw backs as well.

Stulid (one of the dons) likes it, though he says "I'm killing just as many 'newbs' with it as I did before" (paraphrase).

Sounds solid though (from what reviews say).

Well i have a 240 kingston hyper, was going to put it in my current pc so the family could use it as their laptops and desktops are dying. Also can't find a price guide on the RAMDisks.

So gaming across 2 1920 x 1080s, 1ms 144hz with the 6gb card would be pointless, i should use a Ti?? Sorry just want to clarify.
