Howdydodydo!

I just acquired a 7900xtx for reasonable sum of £725 and would like to build a new system around that rather than chucking it in my current Ryzen 5 3600 rig.

I'm not especially interested in many features on a mobo. I can't imagine i will run mutiple m.2 drives, all my peripherals are USB, and i hardwire into my router.

A 7800x3d seems sensible.

Could any kind person offer some advice on PSU/RAM/Mobo I should consider? I just want to make sure I squeeze all the juice out the GPU. Are ATX3/ PCI-E Gen 5 things I need?

Thanks

You could just Upgrade to a 5700x3d that would be a decent boost over your 3600.

If your set on an upgrade Ryzen 9000 CPUs are due this be released 8th to 14th August it mite be wise to wait until reviews.

Memory 6000mhz C30 is optimal but not essential with higher cas.

About PSU your on AMD and there commited to standard pcie connectors but a atx 3.0 PSU will still have the connectios for you 7900xtx..

850w to 1000w should suffice.

Can still spec you if you want.

Which XTX do you have? I'd really try to avoid having a PSU with only 2x PCI-E ports when using 2x EPS12v and that's a rather common config with ATX 3.0/PCIE5 PSUs. They often overcome it by using a 16 pin to 2x 8 pin cable and that's a really ugly solution.

Corsair's updated PSU (SHIFT) is available for £10 more, but you need a compatible case because of the side-mounted cables.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £739.94 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Thanks, Micky. Is there any sense in getting an atx 3.0 psu?

Thanks, also Tetras. I'll check those out. The case is low on my needs, they dont add performance I had my pc in a drawer for while, and my current case is Lianli Pc60 i bought for a tenner off a colleague. The card is the XFX which appears to have 3 x 4pin.

And for PCI-E 5, would that offer anything? I'm not a regular updater, I'd hope to keep the whole system as long as it's doing the job, hopefully for 5 years.
