Can someone recommend me a decent wireless cable router. I currently have a Linksys WRT54G which has been reliable and not caused any faults, but I'm moving house and leaving that one behind.

I planning on having my 360 hard wired to it and my PC wireless and the occasional connection of my work laptop wireless.

I've been looking at some Netgear ones, namely the WGBT111T-100UKS (108mbps) or the WGT624 (108Mbps) or WPN824 Rangemax.

Is it really worth me going for 108Mbps or any other makes?

Thanks

I think you have to have the same hardware on both pc and router for the 108mbps. So that would also mean buying a new network card for the laptop and pc to go with the router. Unless im mistaken (thats how it used to be). If you are happy with the WRT54G I would just get another one.

Well I would be buying it as a package with the 108 dongle to run on my pc. My work laptop wouldn't be on there that often. Currently using a Belkin 125Mbps card on it, but soon be getting a new laptop.

It's only in a flat, and planning on putting the router behind my plasma so that 360 can be hardwired and then the PC would be wireless in bedroom. Would be nice in the future to possibly stream music from PC in bedroom to living room but all on one level so I feel signal strength should be ok and therefore no extra benefit from the 108Mbps ones.

Am I right in these thoughts?

ok looking at the Linksys route. I've seen this

Linksys WUSB54GC Wireless-G USB Network Adapter along with either
Linksys WRT54GS-UK Wireless-G SpeedBooster Broadband Router/4-Port Switch or
Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router/4-Port Switch

Any thoughts please

The man.. he speaks the truth! WRT54GL Pimpage aside if you can live with 54G it's a superb bit of kit when combined with the likes of DDWRT.

Just got myself a GL and its working nicely, lots of recommendations to flash it to DD-WRT firmware but i haven't tried that yet so cant comment.

Plus the GL was only £30 on lovely OcUK ;) bargain if you ask me.

DDWRT? What is that?

54Mbps should be sufficient then to stream out to bedroom on same level and maybe stream back music.

Just need to sort wireless adaptor for pc. What about that USB one?

ok, way above my head lol, something I don't think I will need. So just need to decide if 54 will be sufficient and on the dongle. Either looking at that compact one which is hard to get hold of or the Linksys WUSB54GS Wireless-G USB with SpeedBooster Network Adapter which looks a bit clumsy although can get at a good price.

Also had my standard WRT54G which has been excellent, which I'm leaving with gf's parents, but just thought maybe I should look to future on purchasing next one

Cost really. I'm using a Belkin USB dongle at the moment with my G and gives me excellent coverage from downstairs
