New camera time

Well after wanting one since it launched I treated myself to a new camera today, a Canon 5D mkII and wow what a camera it is. Only had about 30 mins to play with it so far but the images are I took earlier indoors in low light are so sharp and crisp it blows my old 400d out of the water.

Picked it up from Jessops and even managed to get them to drop the price which the manager didn't seem too keen on.

No real point to this thread other than I'm excited about my new toy. :p
 
Congrats, I got mine on Sunday from the same shop with a discount also. What price did you manage to get it down to just out of curiousity
 
Keep finding myself looking at this camera, currently running a 40d but i don't know whether or not its worth putting the cash into some decent glass or and upgrade? any thoughts?

Also let us know how you get on with the video, i've seen some superb results online so far.

good choice mate :D

I sold mine 40D to get 5d2 in may or so and I love IT :D

What lenses do you currently have?

I already had a 24-105L and a nifty fifty and both of these seem to be popular with the 5D body.

Although now I have a new body some new glass would also be nice. Misses will moan when she sees this! :p
 
The 40D is a very capable body, what lens do you have? General opinion is to invest in better lens than better bodies.

Currently a Sigma 18-200mm 1:3.5-6.3, Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8, Canon EF 90-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 and the standard Canon EFs 18-55mm standard lense.

I shoot a lot of bmx action photography but also enjoy shooting a wide range of subjects too.

I swear I'll eventually get my 5d2 and everyone will be like "ah borrring, 5d3 is out next week :p"
 
Nah Phate, 5D2 is gonna be iconic like the original 5D imo! So its never too late too get one :P . Oh thats if you can read this and Im not still on your block list ;)

to be honest I did think about the 40D initially but now I'm leaning more towards ScarySquirrels idea of getting the mark 1 5D instead. Just got to keep an eye on adverts for sale ;)
