Well I have both so perhaps I can give my view..Guy who bought my car came to see it in an RS4, he took me for a drive and told me his tomtom was way more reliable and easier to use than his audi satnav. Didnt say why but it did look complicated.
First off the Tom Tom 710 I have is a lot easier to use and deals with post codes much better. On that front it has the Audi system licked. Entering journies in is also a pain on the Audi sat nav as you have to use the swivel button and select the letters, you it does predict quite well. I also liked the option to add things to the Tom Tom, which you can't do on the Audi system, but the Audi also has a very good traffic system that will re-route you if its spots traffic, which I think uses the radio transponder to pick up the issues.
In terms of look and feel its obviously much better and it also means no more ******* sticker marks or trailing cables. I wouldn't go back, though the Tom Tom is a more functional and easier to use device. I also have a 2L D S-Line................which my wife loves but I find hard work due to its poor damping and juddry ride, which is worse than my RS4!
Out of interest, where to in Surrey?
