RE: The cooling issues with 6pot BMWs the 5th and 6th cylinders don't get as cool as the front 4 due to the pants design of the over all system. When it goes pop (again when not if) it'll fail on those two first. As I found out with the 328i.

I was waiting for something to go wrong with DannyW's 523 and it has already, brilliant stuff.

Also, out of interest, how did you test that the viscous unit on the fan is working correctly? You stated you've checked it and it's fine, I'm interested to hear your testing method.

Hi guys I went to test the pusher fan

This is what happend, can someone tell me if this is right

Turned on aircon, full speed on fan, set to cold on all outputs (feet, face ect)

The fan spinned for about 1 second then stopped, if then kept doing this once every 30 seconds

It was 4*c outside and i dont think my air con works anyway because it wasn't blowing icy cold think it may need a re-gas or have some other problem

sweet jesus you just couldnt write it as it would be too unbelivable.

You should also check the shock value of the exhaust pipe, BMWs are heavy so you need to make sure the exhaust has good shock value.

Basically to test this shake the exhaust pipe end and make sure it doesn't move a single bit.

This is the first thing you should check when buying any old BMW.

If it wobbles I'm afraid I've got some bad news for you
