New car help!

I have put a deposit down on a "standard" spec 230 in red. Managed to get a very good deal IMO- 2 years servicing, mats, 1st years tax and a full tank of petrol for £23,750. Very pleased with this deal.

Ah but you are financing not paying cash so the headline price is less relevant - what were the finance terms? You need to know that before celebrating :p

Initially it seems poor though. Works out at £345 per month assuming it gets handed back so a lot more expensive than the PCH. A low GFV might save it if there's a decent equity at the end

Sorry as you can probably tell I am new to this. I think its around 11k. Will have exact figures tomorrow morning.

You need to understand what you're getting into before signing anything! The figures that you posted and are certain about are for exactly the same as a lease - you don't get to keep it and you will have to put any damage right before handing it back. The GFV Is the only thing that lets you keep it or p/x it.

Well I have compared both figures and came to your conclusion. What is the differenxe? If they are the same why doea it matter which option I go for? At least I get free tax, servicing mats and fuel right?

I meant the same in what you get out of the end, not in price. Your deal is significantly more expensive than the lease over the term - which is fine if you have equity in it. So understanding what that equity is likely to be is really important when getting into a PCP

I'd rather get a 10% APR bank loan, buy a second hand car outright and keep it. Better yet, put down cash and shove the rest on a 0% interest credit card.

Buying new cars is a mug's game unless it's a brand new specific shape / model you desire. To me, there's a wealth of stunning motors out there already.

10% Apr bank loan!?!

Arthur it is fine saying that but I would like a new car - not a second hand one.

Just doing some calculations, am I right in thinking it will cost £9666 over 2 years vs the lease deal of £7446 over 2 years?

If you buy a brand new car for 26k, after two years it'll be worth 20ishk so you'll loose 6k.

A brand new car losing only 23% over 2 years would be very good going assuming it wasn't something hard to come by. Especially the car quoted as the likes of DTD have priced up under £24k (even without finance discount still under £24.5k).

I've had a 230 for a week. I am financing it but will be keeping it at the end of the term, which is why I added pretty much every option.

The ride with the 19s is surprisingly comfortable and I don't feel as if I am crashing around, which was one of my main worries.

I've gone for the primer look.

Here's a quick walk around I did for someone on Skoda forums

Cheers Skully. Did you manage to test drive one?

If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for it and what were your finance terms? Ill post the details up shortly.

No I didn't. For whatever reason no one seemed to take me seriously. I used car wow in the end and dealt with Haysledon Skoda who were fantastic.

I put £6000 down (part ex) they gave me £2000 and I pay £259 a month for 41 months with a final payment of £10000

You've done the right thing going for the best negotiated price with Carwow and then managed to completely undo all your hard work with that finance deal!!

You are paying almost £27k for the car!?

When financing it isnt the price of the car that matters its the total price of the agreement. If you lose sight of that you get a dealer that tempts you in with a great headline price and then makes all the money back off you with the finance!

Fox what would you say is a good finance deal? The car is 23.5k, 4k down and £250 per month using Skoda finance at 2.9%. I thought this seemed a pretty good deal but I know nothing.
