Right, i'm quickly coming up to having 1 year ncb and i'm itching for something a bit quicker. I'm basically looking at something around a 1.6 and not above group 10, so basically a warm hatch.
Would ideally get a Clio 182 but insurance is a killer so it will have to wait.

As of now i'm completely torn between a Clio 1.6 16v and a Yaris T-Sport, i'm currently leaning towards the Yaris because it looks the dogs, is something different, isn't too slow either and it makes an awesome noise.
The Clio has the bonus of everthing i've got in my 1.2 now will just swap over and I get gadgets such as climate and cruise control which I can't have in the Yaris but to me it just doesn't have the same wow factor the Yaris does and is in effect the same old Clio thats just faster, don't get me wrong I love my Clio but something new would be nice.
The insurance for both is pretty much the same give or take 30 notes and the cost of buying and running is about the same
Have also looked at a drove both a VTR and a Zetec-S and can't get on with them, the zs does look good I won't deny but I just can't get on with that interior.

Specs on both incase anyone wonders:
Clio : http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/sp...d=742&id=24165
Yaris : http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/sp...=1275&id=20824

I'm after peoples opinions and what would you have ?
What do people think of the Yaris ?

Yep, only after small hatches not after a big car just don't need it but not necessarily writing them off if something nice is avaliable, looking for something around £6500 max, age isn't really a concern would like it to be at least and 02 plate though, needs to quick(ish) but not too heavy on the insurance.

I do like the Cupra, though at grp 15 i'm not even gonna run a quote through.

You can get detachable hard tops for them. Not sure if any came from the factory like that though.

Would consider it with a hardtop, don't want a softop, too easy for some idiot to knacker it, will have to do some research then methinks.
Only trouble is even the 1.6 is grp 11 insurance, will have to see what quotes I get.

But keep the ideas/opinions coming, am grateful for them.

ewww sportka, stoneage engine :D

Who cares, it's not like having an extra 10 bhp is going to magically turn the motor into a Viper slayer, that's not what these sort of cars are about. It's short geared anyway, so 4th and 5th are like 3rd and 4th in similar vehicles.

Don't get a Corsa :p

1.8 SRi might be reasonable but would most likely have it's nuts thrashed off
You could pick up an 05-reg one for about £7k with about 10k miles or so.

This is good advice.

This is not.

Perhaps look at something like a Focus 2.0 Zetec? Yes, it's a 2.0 16v but it's only insurance group 8.

the hardtop on the mx-5 doesn't actually offer all that much extra protection unfortunatly, mainly cause they are actually valuable in their own right :( people will break in and knick the hardtop which is a real shame. You can get kits to make them more secure but buy the time they notice you have one you already have a broken windows :(

there was a coupe version, but it was only a very limited run in japan and was basically the stanard one with a roof welded onto it

yea, go with a 2.0 litre focus. I have a focus its great! just not fast enough. (1.6zetec)

I also have exact same model Focus and i must agree. It handles nice, just i wish at times i had the 2.0 power!
