New Car Pics

Nice, please don't tell me it's running those cheapo tyres in the top pic though (Kumho/Admiral 712's!)

Lovely looking motor though :) Bet thats a bit of a weapon with that power too!

I like that a lot. Could you post more pics of the alloys as my car is a very similar colour to yours and I'm looking at whether black alloys would suit it or not. Cheers.

Are those drilled discs on the front or a poor photograph? How much of the car is factory standard?

Will do when I get some charge in my camera, and it stops weeing it down :) And yeah, they are drilled. The car isnt too stock really. Uprated suspension, tweaked engine, supercharger, blitz airfilter, blitz exhaust, 19" wheels, tints, larger bonnet scoop (for some reason) new lights front and rear. A lot of that is cosmetic though, so if charger was taken out, my guess is it wouldnt be too far from the newer GT's floating around. With it in though, no problem

Afraid so, Pirellis on the rear though.. seems to do the job. Cornering/control is very tight, and extremely reponsive. Driving in it is fun as it does feel very sporty. The TRD stock gearing is quick shift which once mastered, gives some very satisying changes (well, thats if you can catch the rev counter in time :D)

As for the pulley, I aren't sure. I can see where people are coming from with the love/hate of the wheels. They are big for the car. Tht said though, they dont seem to slow it. Does make me think though if there would be gains by putting smaller on though.. if only off the line?

very very nice  the very best thing about these cars is the front suspension the superstrut is basically like double wishbones using macpherson strut mounting points, gets rid of torque steer and gives better camber/castor control over its movement, i cant say as i understand it that well but it does work very well indeed, difference to mac struts is night and day, the lsd helps too.

hate to be the bearer of bad news though but the trd sports m's had nothing to do with trd but were modified by sports modelista in japan, just using some off the shelf parts from trd, there is nothing done to the engine, they use tottally stock 2zz-ge's, the power, which is quoted as 200ps, according to documentation is down to the use of the trd exhaust system. This has all been proven after a member on ccuk blew there sports m, and after opening the engine up found it to be completely stock, theres also no evidence to suggest the engine was any different in the brochures either, the reason most people think it has all the trd parts is because of a copy and pasted list of trd parts from fensports website lol.

Love that!
Always wanted to own a celica at some point, and thats one of the best Ive ever seen, although I do think the rear lights ruin the image slightly :(

Fox, I assume he bought a car with circa 200bhp as standard (well, after factory tuning), and then the previous owner has then supercharged it.

Nice looking car! normally the "max power" look can be over the top but I think thats almost practical looking, almost.

So are we saying he has been ripped off and its pretty much a normal one?

no there still very different, its just usually they are quoted with a huge list of parts including trd pistons, cams, exhaust manifold etc etc, but the actual trd parts used are a cat back exhaust, i think thats it as far as engine modifications go, a trd panel filter was optional, i think the flywheel is a lightened stock unit but not sure about that. I've seen a few owners now dissapointed that they were sold the car being told it has this long list of parts that it actually doesnt.

the chassis is what these are all about, they have extra reinforcement to the pillars to stiffen the chassis over the normal versions, and use the trd suspension kit with superstrut and a helical lsd, i think that kit consists of shocks/springs and antiroll bars.

oh and they come with the trd steering wheel which looks horrible imo lol.

A 280hp 2ZZ-GE is either BS or isn't going to last very long.

from what i've seen the blitz or greddy supercharger kit tends to put out anywhere between230 to 260bhp in reality, just from what i've read i've never looked into it in detail. Theres a few 2zz-ge owners in ccuk now running 280-300bhp with rotrex superchargers, but i do beleive they at least have uprated bearings and oil pumps to go with it otherwise they do seem to have a habit of breaking.

You trying to say that with uprated internals and a SuperCharger + exhaust system, an engine can't make an extra 90bhp?

If it has uprated internals then it's anyones guess. But my understanding was that it's just a S/C and exhaust system. Lotus extracts up to 260 of reliable bhp's from their 2ZZ-GE's and that's achieved with a combination of uprated injectors, induction, supercharging, intercooling and careful mapping. They did try tunes going to 300bhp for their GT race cars a few years back but those kept blowing up.

Granted he didn't say whether the internals were uprated or not, but that could be down to not having the information rather than them not. Ultimately, even if it has been dyno'd at 280bhp, it could just be an over-reading of 260!

The thing that has the greatest effect on dyno figures is how much the owner has spent before the car is put on the rollers. :)

Drove one of these once, didn't like it. Prefer the looks of the old Celica personally.
