There was a report in the news last week claiming that the increased costs of running a car (such as rising fuel prices and increased tax for gas guzzlers) means that second-hand cars will see around an additional 8% drop in value compared to normal this year!
 
My LCR is going to go up.

Thankfully I renew at the end of this month so can put it off for another year.

Then I go diesel.....

Sad sad times......
 
It's £66 to insure a 600CC+ bike for 12 months and yet a highly strung 600CC bike will get 35mpg at best. How come they aren't really affected by the new taxes?
 
mine only goes up to £300, that's not bad considering many, many cars with less performance are in the higher bands :)

Both my 2.2 Prelude, and my dad's 3.0 V6 petrol Shogun are having their tax go up by an absolutely staggering £5, and then a further £15 taking it to a total of £200 per year :mad:

Not sure, I doubt I will - really want a BMW M car (which will obviously be hit by this supertax, but at least it's worth it :p) so I'll probably keep the 530 until I can get insurance reasonably on an M3/M5 (another year and a half or so) and then chop it in.
 
Mines going up to £300 so it is getting the elbow I am afraid. I love the car and it is not just the road tax it is the overall running costs of having a petrol.

Boring diesel for me as my mileage continues to hover around the 25-30k a year.

Doubt I will get much for my car now though.

To put it in perspective though, I'm putting £100/month away to keep my car on the road (tax, MOT, servicing and tyres). As of next year I'll have to use 3 months savings rather than 2 for my tax leaving me less for everything else..

I can still afford it but along with other household price rises such as gas and electric, the belt will need to be tightened slightly.
 
:eek: mine more than doubles going from £205 now to £440. Luckily it runs out on the 1st August so i'll put 6 months on and then put a year on in Feb next year and avoid the ridiculous amount of tax till 2010 when it wil be just £455..nice! I'll just have to use it more now to make sure I get my monies worth! Ill do my best with the 284g/Km I put out to kill as many penguins as I can! :D

Makes you wonder though, just how much more tax are we willing to pay before people will actually do somthing other than just sit around complaining about it?
