New Car Thread : Golf VI GTI

Not sure about the Leon but yeah mine being a 2006 needs the CAMBUS upgrade as well to make the most of it (and to stop battery drain issue).

I went with www.satnavsystems.com who come to your home and give 3 year warranty. They provide the service to dealers as well - adding nav and other options to the cars themselves rather than getting VW/Audi factory to do it.

Thanks for the info (even though I didn't ask for it :P). How much is the RNS510 setting you back? Tempted to get it for my Polo but it was horrifically expensive when I spec'd the car.

I agree, I really needed a 5 door though and no regrets at all about it... I was lucky actually, the dealers here are all sold out and it just happened that a car matching exactly my requirements was special ordered for the Motor Show..otherwise I would be waiting another 2-3 months and wouldn't have got Dynaudio, RNS 510 or the DCC as they tend to sell cars with a set "package" and not a-la-carte.

Really like the RNS 510, so far I have tried it out mainly for the phone, Nav and Media in.. but still have to try the DVD.. the manual states that it also has a TV function, but apparently not where I live.

It would be better if it accepted video streamed from the Memory card or iPod, but apparently it doesn't, only via the DVD.

I'll get more pics of the Unit in the morning

Spill, what's the details on the big engined stuff you've had previously?

Heh ok.. I had an E34 520i in the 90's while I lived in Amsterdam, in gold. I dont remember the year but I think it was an '89 or older, and then an E36 320i Coupe in Boston green.

A 2004 L322 HSE 4.4 V8 when I came to Dubai, and then a 2005 CL65 V12 more recently.

In between I had 2005 C220 CDI and a 2007 E200 CDI, both 4 pot company cars.

Must need quite a few bits then? Just the head unit (without canbus upgrade) was just over a grand. Saying that, this was via group buy on a VW forum but don't know how much it reduced it by.

I thought they were "Monza shadows", 18" with the half black colour scheme.

According to the manufacturing bill (from some system or other which shows all the vehicle/factory/shipping details) I got, they are named as ""Detroit" 7.5J x 18 - tires 225/40 R18". But whose to say they are not named differently elsewhere.

They must name them differently in the UK then.

Must do, but there's no way I'm chucking £2k at it. I have asked for a breakdown to see what is exactly costing so much.
