Well i sold my civic 1.8 vti due to needing a bigger car, I got a call from a dealer and he offered me £3500 cash . So when i ring him he will bring me the cash and take the car . I have tried to advertise it but the only people interested where to young to insure it.

Here is my situation , I have upto £4500 for a car and need it to be
5 door with a nice size boot for 2 buggies
Not slower than my civic
Prefere nothing older than 1999
Milage not to be sky high
Insurance upto group 17

My list at the moment is
Accord type R - which i have found one but someone else is viewing it before me and i think it will sell because the low price on it.

Regards Skywalker

Well i'll say it first :p Mondeo ST200 - although id prob take the ATR over the mondeo

Mileage will be very high though for a £4500 example of an ATR unless your lucky.

The one i found is only on 74k which i can live with, The mondeo is only .3 seconds faster to 60 than my civic aswell which is ok but not that fantastic

Do u have subaru libertys over there? they might be called legacys there. Have a look at some of those :)

Mondeo ST200 is faster than most figures suggest, no idea why there is a shortage of figures that are accurate but its noticeably quicker than the ST24 - 0-60 is approx u seconds dead, some people claim 6.9 but I've seen no official varification of this.

ST200 also looks properly sporty, whereas the Accord is a mismatch of subtle Accord styling and a huge OTT rear wing.

You know, you could manage a BMW 528i for this budget as well but not a 99. 0-60 is 6.7 seconds, but it will cost a bit to fix if anything goes wrong.

Leagues above the Mondeo or Accord, though.

Im looking at parkers for figures and the 528i comes in at 7.3

The thing is i have £18500 but the wife has said i need to spend £14000 on the house  So i could spend £4500 on a car now or wait and see whats left over , but this could be more or even less. If its more she will no doubt ask for a shopping spree and a holiday .

I have to get the loft converted and decorate everywhere , I would love an M5 and many other cars. I have been looking on auto trader but im getting stressed a little racking my brains cause everything is more than what i have got atm

Im having the same problems with u, i just dont have enough money to get what i "really" want :(
But im not buying a house.
Would the car be worth letting your misses have a holiday and a shopping spree for? Think of the possibilitys ;)

It's wrong.

http://www.autocar.co.uk/RoadTest_Summary.asp?RT=200076

When Autocar do a road test, they do it properly - part of this involves strapping professional timing gear to the car and getting accurate performance figures. They said 6.8.

The 5-series dismisses its rivals so easily that you wonder just where they went wrong. The BMW is very good — or outstanding — at simply everything

Only concern would be potential running costs of the cheaper ones.

Thanks for that fox,

My budget has gone up as some of the work on the house cant be done :D opps i mean what a shame :p

This means i may have upto £7500 with the shopping and holiday taken out :D

Glad to sold the VTI Skywalker, gives you some options now. On that budget its definitely between a BMW and the ST200. I'd even consider an ST24, get a decent ish one (you should find it cheaper to insure than your VTI was) and save a bit of money for servicing. I guess that would be cheaper to service than a BMW 528..and probably cheaper to run fuel wise. But not as quick.

Well i rang the insurance company because i only have 1 month left on my current policy and asked how much to move to an accord type r and they said it wouldnt cost a penny  Then on my renewal it will still cost me less than £400 a year  so i now i am ripping my hair out thinking i can get a higher group car and i have more money to spend

Mondeo - The wife said she really doesnt like them cause there ugly so that rules that one out guys

Bmw - I have found a very nice 535i auto tip which is telling me to buy it at the moment aswell but i haven't showed it to the wife yet

Get it, u know u want to :)
If u do by it just think, u will never need to indercate again :D :p

If its one of the two on Ebay I've had my eye on that as well, thing with the 535i though is that it isn't really any quicker than the 528/530i but it is a hell of a lot more thirsty, can't help thinking its a bit pointless alongside the 540i.
