Been searching for a car for months now and after a bit of a windfall I went down to the dealers today and purchased a new car for myself. After deciding that I'll never buy a new car again, it is nice to be the first and only owner, but for the drop in value it just isn't worth it unless you're super rich and can stomach it.

So here we go from next week my new Renault Cliosport 197:

(sorry for the poo photos)
It is in black, has the optional Recaro seats, tinted windows, a few extra electrical bits and bobs. Very pleased with it and can't wait to get hold of the keys (or keycard rather) next week. I'll be coming to the RR with it to see how many of those French horses are really present :p

That's good. Being French, they will be first to fail rather than anything important like the engine or gearbox ;)

Hope you enjoy it, and that all horsies are present and correct :D

Yeah it will be a bit of a gamble, but hey life is no fun without risk :D

looks very nice, make sure you get some proper pics once you get it home :D

I will do, taking it down the lake where I do all my other photos and attempt to be artistic :p

Will be nice to see it on the RR too, hopefully Renault have pulled their finger out and it hits a respectible power level :)

Looks smart that does :)

You used to have a Fiesta ST didn't you? How does this compare? Much better to drive?

Lovely :)

What did you have before? The Fiesta ST?

If you dotn mind me asking, how much did it set you back? Did the dealer give you a good discount?

Yea I used to (well still do for another week) the Fiesta ST, its a good little car, but the clio feels far more grown up, yet far more competant than the fiesta, plus the 197 revs almost like a civic type-r so is very addictive :D

The car is setting me back £13700, you can get new ones for £13k but this one has about £1200 worth of extras and is only a few months old, plus no wait time so I'm not that fussed really.

Midlands meet sounds good, just no sillyness this time ;)

Don't take this the wrong way and I might have misunderstood but you are the second owner of this car and have only really saved £500 over new?

I think 13k is import prices?

Ahhh. It did sound like a bit of a rip off. Looking on renaults web site its more like £15,995! So closer to a £4000 saving is more like it!

Nice, but i really dont see the point in 1/2 tints.

Well I want people to see me, but not the celebrities I always ferry about :p

Getting more excited as the night goes on, may have to sedate myself for the rest of the week, have to wait now for the cheque to clear...why a bank holiday this week

They are all made in the same factory and come with the same warranty. Whether you choose a main stealer or a third party to buy your new car from is your choice. Chances are it will be UK dealer supplied who ever you buy from.

And they can be had for £13k brand new

Sport 197
Price: £ 12995

Manufacturer: Renault
Model: Clio
Type: Hatchback
Doors: 3
Fuel: Petrol
Road Tax: 12 Months
Warranty: 36 months
List Price: £15995
You Save: £3000

That aside. Nice car. Well done :)

I guess some poeple might be put off when trying to sell it on if it was an import - no matter how many times you tell them its made in the same factory, etc etc
