I was wondering if you lovely OcUKers will be able to help me with a random car query.
I passed my test when I was 17 and drove an older Ford Fiesta around for a few years before I started uni. Since moving to uni, driving became very minimal, to a point where I have not driven for two years now
.
I've decided that I need a car for getting around in the evening and weekend trips.
Here is where I want your opinion. I've got the option to simply buy a brand new car outright (i.e. new Ford Fiesta) or go for something slightly older (2007- Mondeo?).
In your opinion, what should I go for? The convenience of a new car (I'll likely keep it for a number of years until I've finished my PhD) or do you believe that for my stated use, I would be better for something older and slightly cheaper? Or, do you think I'm starting too high a price point/spec?
Budget could go up to around £13k for a new car but like everyone else, the cheaper the better!
