New Car

Very easy mistake to make, to be honest unless you are 'into' cars you've no reason to realise the registration system changed and it's certainly not something which needs the mick taking out of it.

Friend did it the other day, it was March 1st and I said 'oooh like a brand new car!'

'But its W reg?'

:p

A 1.4 litre Rover 200 with leather seats. ;)

Bit harsh really. I'm glad to see someone taking pride in their car. If that's how you feel, then I guess I'm going to be doing a lot of polishing to my turd :p

Anyway, you coming to the Manc Meet? You haven't posted in the thread for ages.

I was just kidding hence posting the smilies :)

Looking forward to the MM next week

A 1.2 SXi for me is going to be £1950 for insurance :( Selling the fun machine is no option so I am just going to have to grin take it :)

Don't buy a 1.2 SXi as they are rubbish, take the opportunity to buy something decent.

^^ I am still open to suggestions but I can get a 1.2Sxi for £2600. With the insurance being that much even on a group 2 car I am ideally looking for group 1 and nothing higher, the simple puropse for a car for me is to keep warm and dry instead of going to work and out at night on 2 wheels :)

Well the SXi is not Group 1, it's Group 3.

Clio, Fiesta, Yaris, 206 etc are all better cars.

Practically, you'll find little financial difference between Groups 1-6.

I wasnt aware of this, but I do want something that will be as cheap as possible to insure as I have a bike to run as well.

So far I have been looking at the following as possibles
Fiesta 1.25 Zetec
Pug106 Zest 1.1
Saxo 1.1 (SX model I think is the one with power steering)

I want something modern as it hopefully means less mechanical/repair problems. The car itself is ideally going to be £2.5k or less as its going to be an 18th birthday present :)

EDIT: Sorry to hijack Tink :p

Well of those three the Fiesta has the best engine - the 1.25 Zetec is really rather good and very reliable. Unfortunately it's more expensive to insure than the others.
