The power is absolutely spot on. It's a precision instrument not a massive hammer.

15.5 over the quarter. Same as a 1.6 saxo or 106. Hardly a performance car like its marketed as.

Thats an age.

Its the same as the 530i. Thats a ruddy cruiser!

So power spot on? No fella its not enough. 20 seconds to 100mph is NOT a performance car.

Its 155bhp per tonne. Id rather have the new 260 transit with 2.3 petrol engine to be honest just as fast.

20 seconds to 100?

Sounds way out to me.

Wait you're now comparing a ruddy transit with my hot hatch, jesus.

Why do you say that? Sounds about right to me going purely on power to weight and the type of car.

flyingears2002 - power is of course subjective. For what it is the Clio is more than adequate in the power department.

When will people learn that performance cars are not something that can be summarised into 0-60, 0-100, times, or laps times for that matter.

A performance car is something, which is fun and rewarding to drive, and has an appropriate mix of power, handling ability, and weight, among other things.

It's 18ish I think to 100

tbh people who are all about the power will not like them as that's not what they are really about. They'd be better off with a Starlet and lots of boost.

Good fun though, and if you did decide to have some track fun they are pretty handy there too :)

Lovely car Tom, good choice getting rid of that poor BMW

Now get polishing and get some pics up. Rain and darkness are no excuse :D

Thanks Ad, I really think the colour will polish up nicely silverish/blue. Looking forward to it getting dirty so I can do it myself actually :)

Posting again wasn't the smartest thing Fox.

Lets show a little perspective here, both the 106 GTi and Saxo VTS in standard form are around 130 BHP / tonne and not 155 BHP / tonne as the 172 is. The Focus ST is only around 163 BHP / tonne as a comparison (1392 Kg / 222 BHP). The 182 and 172 Cup have better power / weight than the Focus ST (182 - 1090Kg / 180 BHP).

Lost as to why he would compare a transit to a fun hatchback as well.

Bizarre.

He'll argue that it does everything just as well as a 1 series first

You've never drove either so I'd at least have a slightly better picture than yourself.

Maybe I'll come to that southampton meet and you can discuss with me the problems you seem to have with myself. Instead of trying to rubbish the hell out of me on the internet along with your best friend Fox.

Oh dear. This "Holier than thou" attitude that is increasingly pervading the Motors forum is becoming tiresome.
