Sure the 7900GTX is quicker than an X1800XT, but depending on the resolution you play, you may not be able to notice the difference.

Have to agree with the above poster the X1900XT is cheaper & offers similar performance to the 7900GTX, unless youre thinking SLI, the ATI card offers better value.

Well if all goes to plan I may be able to get some more money together to get a 7950GX2, and that should go well with the Bad Axe and the Conroe E6700 that I am hopefully going to get.

Thats if my plan goes to plan.

They wont release x1800/x1900 masters anymore, x1800 masters you wont get hold of now as they were stopped in January, x1900's are still out there, but no longer in production due to the release of the x1950, so if you want a x1900 master you need to get it now before the ones out there are all gone, or get an x1950 master, but who in their right mind would pay £328 to pair an x1950 master with a less than £200 x1900 master that will give same performance as an x1900 master. :D

let me get this straight , ati are not making x1900xt`s any more? just because they have released the 1950?

It's the same situation as the X1800XT, which stopped being made in January, but are still available. If it's an X1900XT you're after then you still have ages to buy, but I doubt they'll last as long as the X1800XT did at these prices.

Thats why my advice to those who want to go X1900XT crossfire get the mastercard first, then it will be reasonably easy to find a standard X1900XT to pair it with later on.

Ignore the ATI fanboys and get the fastest card in production...

The GX2

Just do it and have it and enjoy it till DX 10 is needed.

Thats what I did and easyrider knows his stuff. ;)
