hi all,

After nearly 5 years my GF ti4200 has finally stopped working :( I don't use the PC for gaming anymore tbh so need a cheap AGP based card. I need VGA/DVI inputs too. I have been looking at the following from OCUK:

Asus GeForce N7600GS Silent HTD 256MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (AGP) - Retail
Asus ATI Radeon X1650 Pro HTD Silent 256MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail

As i really haven't upgraded anything on my pc for years now, what things am i going to need to considor and which of the above two cards is the best/worse (as they are both art the £70 mark).

Thanks for any help

The above 2 cards you listed are very similar in most respects.

Have a look at the bundles they come with & choose whichever has the better one.

get the 7600gs, its got better on board video processing capabilities, low power consumption, low heat output and still has some power for playing games.

I am only running xp pro and not vista. Would this be a problem, as both cards mention Vista in their specs

with the lower spec cards i would go ati.

The ati wins over on image quality over any nvidia 7xxx series cards.

If you were saying the 8xxx series i would say nvidia lol.

So i would go for the Asus ATI Radeon X1650 Pro HTD Silent 256MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail

thanks for replies.

One other question - are these cards much bigger than my old Ti4200 and will they fit ok into a Lian Li PC60?

I went ithe 7600GS in the end :)

What is the normal operating temperature for this card. Nvidia control panel is reporting anything from 60-70 degrees. Is this normal?

BTW: thats using the fans that came with the Lian Li PC60 case - so a rear, upper and dual front fans.
