new card problem

just fitted a new gigabyte vega 64 last night, everything seemed to work ok. just tried to play a game and almost immediately the game crashed and then the fans kicked in really loud. was monitoring temps and they were only in the very low 60's.
after rebooting just got a black screen so plugged one monitor into the onboard graphics. pc wouldn't boot and looking in bios my ssd boot drive wasn't there. checked connections in the case and all seemed ok, tried again and it boots up fine now but the graphics card is still not being detected, fans on it are spinning.

anything to try or just send it back to overclockers?

its baffleing me now. put the card in the second pcie slot and the monitor plugged in to that worked. went downstairs for another beer, came back up and black screens on both now, even the one plugged into the motherboard.
i have had a few windows issues lately with it not booting and black screens so was planning a fresh install soon. could this be linked?

Are you seeing the BIOS, if you are then try resetting the BIOS (jumper connection/battery removal).

Take a note of the settings beforehand though.

wasn't even seeing the bios. ended up with no card installed and it then booted just on onboard ghrapics so i decided to go ahead with the fresh install of windows i had planned anyway. also removed the battery and reset bios.
will fit the card back in later and see what happens.
not sure if a windows issue could be the cause though as i couldn't even see the bios at one point.

First thing I would do is make sure your motherboard BIOS is up to date. Fresh install of windows and let us know if its seeing any graphics cards in the first pci-e slot

right its back up and running on the vega 64. both monitors working fine untill i installed the latest AMD driver, now the main monitor via displayport is flashing on off constantly, second monitor via HDMI is fine.

First rule of fault finding, check those connections. Same thing my daughter was starting up a new build yesterday and getting ' no input detected' on monitor, she texted me and I said check cables, they were fine, I asked her, 'you did connect the monitor to the graphics card and not the onboard graphics' her reply was 'oops'. Two most common mistakes. Lol.

always miss the simple things, although the cable connection was only an issue after refitting the graphics card tonight. i did actually check the connections when i had my original issues last night. just spent over an hour on a game and all seems ok.
time will tell if the bios reset and fresh install of windows has fixed the issue, at least i know the card isn't dead.
