When I said, "on average". I think you can get a rough estimate of average overclocks for a specific card, take the X1900 XT, it can't clock for anything.
ernysmuntz said:Looks like their pretty simialr then from what people are saying overall?

I too am considering both these cards![]()
Thats true also, but I read on here some guy flashed his X1900XT to XTX which gave him more volts to play with and allowed him to get superb clocksernysmuntz said:When I said, "on average". I've read threads saying, don't bother getting an XTX as the XT can clock to XTX speeds easily. Thats as maybe, but the difference is so small thats not the point. The point is the XTX can clock well above XTX speeds.

Also, just checking the prices, the XTX's are only a tenner more than the XT 512! So if youre looking at the 512 XT, may aswell get the XTX![]()
Uninstall the drivers. thats the most in depth image quality test on the net.

ATi:
- ATI offers a higher tri-linear filtering quality
- Easy to see, the ATI High Quality AF algorithm is beyond competition here. It provides the best anisotropic filtering available today, which you can’t have on an Nvidia GeForce 7-series card.
- ATI High Quality AF ensures higher sharpness of textures at a long distance irrespective of the angle of inclination of a surface. This is most conspicuous in the first Half-Life 2 clip
- ATI’s 2x MSAA mode is a little better than Nvidia’s 2x MSAA
- ATI’s 6x mode is better than Nvidia’s 4x, but is not as good as Nvidia’s SLI AA 8x, even though, the latter is a little bit more blurry than ATI’s 6x
- Even though ATI Technologies was a year behind Nvidia in supporting FP16 HDR, the company has managed to offer something that the rival did not consider valuable: full-scene antialiasing along with FP16 HDR
- Nvidia’s Transparent AA Multi-Sampling hardly does any job at all.
- ATI’s “Performance” Adaptive AA is clearly better than Nvidia’s Transparent AA multi-sampling, but is obviously not as good as “Quality” Adaptive AA.
Nvidia: (just 1 quote as this was the only one in 6 pages that they won!!!)
- Nvidia’s Transparent AA Super-Sampling is a little bit more accurate than
ATI’s “Quality” Adaptive AA.
I'm in the exact same boat and am sooo confused. I'ts a toss up between a 2nd hand x1900xt and a new 7900gto. Correctlocutus12 said:when you say reconsider, i presume you mean "consider not buying it???" that entire Image quality report was just page after page of ATi`s features stomping Nvidias...
Some Quotes from the first 6 pages...

Although whether I'll manage to pluck up the 70 extra notes for 512mb for the X1900XT or not is another story altogether. Either that or wait and get lucky with finding a 2nd hand one for under £200.
(i have a HIS X1900XT 512mb master card)What I was thinking, yet I still find myself checking over the OCUK product pages everyday ;Dlocutus12 said:sit tight for 4 weeks, then r600 / g80 arrive there will be boat loads being flogged off. i may pick one up myself for crossfire(i have a HIS X1900XT 512mb master card)
