New Card

Yeah, any recommendations on the price i should pay for one of them.

I just sold the 2900Pro for £72 on the bay of E so I think £30 - £50 is probably right for the X1950. It just depends on the seller and how much they need the money. I bought my card from here for £185 delivered in October last year but with ATI dropping prices like mad to compete my cards value plummeted very fast :).

Your X800 would eat that card up I think.

Keep an eye out for a cheap X1950Pro (second hand). That would be your best bet. I just sold my 2900Pro for £72 so I'd hope you could maybe get the X1950 for about £30 with maybe having to stretch to £40.

Good luck.

sold my x1950XT for £26 on MM. Doesnt help you though, but they are about on MM.

X800XTPE was faster than the 6800Ultra in plenty of cases, no 6800GS is faster than an X800XT.

The x800 XT was the 6800 Ultra's competitor i think, with the PE being faster.

Aye, I had a debate with a member not so long ago about the Ultra.

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/...rall-all-games-fps,572.html?p=1567,1646,1561,

This is why I found it hard to believe that the GS was up to the task. Maybe Rroff was meaning against the X800XL or something weaker :p :).

IIRC some of the 6800GS cards could clock quite a bit higher on the core than the 6800Ultra (albeit these were pci-e only models rather than the bridged AGP models).

I know from experience than in 3dmark05 at leasta 6800GS could be quicker than a 6800Ultra if it was clocked far enough (ie over 500mhz on the core).

Whether this translates into real world performance however I don't know.

What I can say is though in the right game not one of them could touch my X800GTO2 clocked well past X850XTPE clocks. I actually held the record on guru3d for ages with this card (3dmark05 for x8xx models) until phrozin come along with one heavily volt modded, phase cooled IIRC, running well over 800mhz on the core.

X800XT PE 800mhz on core, niiice bet that could match a 7800GTX

No it was a Rev 1 (red pcb) X800GTO2 VERY heavily volt modded. I can't find the post anymore as it looks like they have had a clean up. The core was in the mid to high 8k mark which at the time was faster than most stock 7800GTX cards could manage. Ah back in the days when the A64 4000+ was the best non FX chip you could get. :D

Edit my bad I got the score and the core clock mixed up, here is the original post:

So its running 756 on the core.

If anyone bothered to read what I said :P

Depends on the 6800GS - if it was just a stock old style one or even the generic PCIe GS version then it won't beat a decent X800 - but there were some 6800GS which were PCIe chips bridged to AGP, running 512Mb of fast DDR3 that would OC a lot - by the time these came out the 7800GTX was getting on so its not like they were a significant development at the time :P but regardless they'd keep up with a 7800GT with ease unless you were running very high res/levels of FSAA. They'be beat any X800 series that wasn't heavily volt modded - but that doesn't really count
