New case decision

So I'm ordering a new case today. I have decided on one of the 3 below.

Thermaltake spedo

yeah i know most people on here don't like thermaltake cases, I think it looks quite good and the reviews seemed ok

or

Antec 900

or

Antec 1200

Has anyone had both the antecs? is the price difference worth it for the 1200 over the 900.

I need good airflow as they always seem to get hot.

Opinions on how noisey these are?

it will have 5 hard drives and the stuff from my sig , except the memory is getting changed for Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)

I suppose i wanted opinions advice and decision making help, (recomendations if necessary).

please do not recomend anything with a door they just get annoying.

It goes under the desk and i don't really care about looks, i just want it to be cool (temp) inside.

I don't really want to spend more than £150 inc vat on the case

From what I've read people love the 1200 and it comes with dust filters.

If you are after extreme airflow and cooling the 900 would be my choice out of your two options, especially as you're not worried about how it looks

Why not save some coin and get a 300? A smart no nonsence well built case, quiet with great cooling. Especially as it's sitting under a desk anyway.

I think i decided that the 300 didn't have enough fans therefore the airflow would not be good enough. That might have just been faulty logic on my part however. the inside of my case alway seems hot

Well the airflow on the 300 is pretty good as you can have all these fans below.

It comes with a 140mm top exhaust and a 120mm tricool exhaust fans as standard fitted

There is space for two 120mm intakes (directly in front of the hard drive bays) and a 120mm gpu intake on the side panel. The front intake fan spaces have a removable/washable dust guard behind them.

Obviously by adding these extra fans you're getting more cooling and it's not much difference to the 900.

I used to have a smaller asus case and my case temp dropped shed loads when my rig moved into this case.

i build in both a lot
the 1200 is the better case by a long way

in every aspect

So are you saying the Antec 1200 is the best on the market at the moment? Even better than the cosmos sport and Lian Li?

I need plenty of airflow in my pc, space to clean out the dust too.

Dont agree with the 1200 being leaps ahead of the 900. Unless you need a case the size of the 1200 i personally would'nt bother - get a 900 and spend the spare cash on some decent extra fans etc

All personal opions though mind :)

EDIT - did'nt realise you had already bought the 1200! Not trying to undermine your decision mate - still a quality case!

Enjoy

Probably should have measured the desk clearance when buying a case to go under the desk. It doesn't fit! guess i'll have to modify the desk again.

The case is a whole lot cooler and and awful lot quieter (whole lot and awful lot are highly used scientific terms ;) )

I added an optional fan to the inside of the drive bay that is level with memory and cpu, because I am sick of replacing memory that has got too hot. However I have also changed the memory from crucial 4x1gb to the corsair mentioned in initial post.

P.S. on a side note if you order a case and memory from overclockers it's a possibility they will come in 2 seperate delivery vans even if on the same order with the same tracking number!

You need to upload your pictures to photobucket or equivalent then put tags around the link

Example - ignore the '

No probs, glad it's sorted.

Good looking case too, I haven't really studied the Antec 1200 much before.

Can you buy these? I don't really want to buy a new DVD writer at the moment.

I dunno...they usually come with the writers I think. Tbh though you're better off not bothering with the hassle of looking for and buying a cover + shipping when a new DVD Writer is 15 notes. Someone will buy that one off of you if it's not scuppered.
