New Case with USB3.0 headers??

Hiya folks I am going to be looking out for a new case for my upcoming 2500k and Z68 build - from what I have read I believe the new Z68 motherboards are going to be using mainly usb3.0 connectors so ideally I am looking for a new case with a front IO with at least 2 (ideally 4) usb3.0 connectors that plug directly into the usb3.0 headers on the motherboard and don't have be routed through the case to the rear IO shield.

Does such a case exist yet?? I think the only one I have seen so far is the Coolermaster Storm Enforcer case which has 2 connectors and isn't really my cup of tea.:p

I suppose all cases will have them eventually but it will take time to get through the supply chain.

Many thousands of cases will have been produced with the cables which have to be routed through to the back. Manufacturers and retailers will want these sold first.

The Coolermaster Storm Enforcer has them because it's a new product.

Very good.

You've found some cases and an adapter with USB 3.0 connectors on the front.

I could have trawled through the OcUK website and come up with a longer list than that.

How does that help the OP?

The question was do any have connectors that plug directly into the USB 3.0 headers on the motherboard?

Do you have the answer for that?

Think he posted 3 cases with front usb 3 ports and an adapter so if the OP wants the corsair case they could add the adapter and make it usb3.
Personally I think it does help

It helps you if you're incapable of browsing the OcUK website.

What the OP needs is the answer to the question "do any have connectors that plug directly into the USB 3.0 headers on the motherboard?".

Excuse my ignorance, I've only built one pc but how else are usb front panels connected to motherboards? My lian li connects from the front panel straight to internal usb headers

He asked for cases with more 2 or more usb 3.0 front ports, I gave him links to some and the corsair adaptor for some choice, that is what he asked. And as far as I know as long as your motherboard supports usb 3.0 you just plug the front panel connector directly into the usb headers on the motherboard, I've never heard of having to route it back to the rear I/O panel?

They generally don't have front panel connectors that fit the USB headers on the motherboard, they usually have a motherboard connector for the rear I/O, and a routing USB cable to the back from the front.

I've yet to see one that has both header connectors for the front and the back...as the mobo would need 2 USB 3 sockets.

Yes I do have an answer for that, they all do.

It must be nice to live in ignorance.

You've just assumed that because it works that way for USB 2.0 it does for USB 3.0 as well.

No doubt in time it will, but not now.

The vast majority of cases with USB 3.0 connectors do not have a cable which connects to the motherboard header.

This is because the cases were designed before the standard was agreed for a USB 3.0 motherboard header.

They have cables which need to be plugged into a USB 3.0 port.

I apologize, I just assumed it worked like USB 2.0 because I'd never heard of it, I apologize to the OP too for giving him the wrong info.

Coolermaster Haf X is currently shipping with the cables that go out the back gromets and into the IO plate/shield on the back, but should be having mobo header cables available 'any day now' (so, probably within a few weeks):

I wouldn't make a purchase on the strength of this statement; but if anyone has this case or were on the fence about it, might help them to make up their mind and/or watch the thread. I'm curious because mid April the FAQ for the case on CM's site changed from saying they'd be providing the header cables free once the standard was settled, to being just a plain explanation on how the cables currently route out the back, but the support rep who has been commenting on the thread hasn't suggested this has now changed or been withdrawn.

Thanks guys - it seems to just be a case of waiting until they start trickling through I guess or go for the the new Coolermaster which seems to be getting decent reviews anyway ... patience.:D

I think the ASRock Z68 Extreme4 is going to come with a 2x USB 3.0 drive bay as standard so I wouldn't be surprised if many other manufacturers do something similar with their top end Z68 boards.

Have a looksie here.

I'm about to buy a corsair 650d that has usb 3.0 but its a bit pricey.

Yes it has usb3.0 connectors but they have to be routed round the back and connected to the rear ports on the I/O shield I believe.

The new Coolermaster HAF 932 Advanced has the internal usb 3.0 headers but they are not ideally situated.:D

Maybe give it another couple of weeks or it looks like that will be the best option for my new build.

This front USB3.0 + 2.5" SSD holder tray came with my ASrock motherboard
