New Cat Convertor on A3 3.2...options?

The decat I have has a threaded hole for the lamda sensor to be screwed into. Unsure if all decats have this however?

It also means you will have to get under the car twice a year to do the swap. It's easy on my car, unsure on yours.

Do you find these in Yellow Pages or something? How is Mr Average supposed to find a dishon... sorry 'friendly' garage for MOT's?

Well if many of your friends are into cars and/or own modified vehicles its not hard to find out if you ask around?

One presume a guy who owns a 3.2 litre car and is already considering a decat might be something of a petrolhead and have a few contacts he could ask? :)

That's quite pricey indeed! I didn't get an emmisions sheet with my MOT, do you still get them?

I'm thinking since he put on a centre section and backbox he just became 'friendly' to get it passed. Purely because the previous owner had a horrible time trying to get the car passed looking at previous MOTs.

I'm surprised such places exist these days. My usual garage won't let me get away with anything now, even forced me to fit a rear fog on the 300 after 8 years of not having one.

You ask around at work/in the pub/gym/hobby , basically wherever there are people

Obviously not as easy as getting a non dodgy MOT but hardly impossible

I have no doubt it will get increasingly harder, but I know of enough people over time who have decatted cars and never struggle come MOT time to think that there are still enough garages to turn a blind eye.

pure pig of a job on the a3 3.2

having done this on both a 8P a3 and a mk4 golf I would never like the displeasure of doing a manifold on either car again. certainly wouldn't want to be doing it twice a year

yeah but there cars probably still passed the emissions with the cat removed , but as of July this year no cat no MOT it wont even get to the emissions test, i guess the tester will have to know you to let that slide
