After a decent car cd/mp3 player, i'm not too clued up on whats good/bad these days and a google search has just confused even me more lol.

So what would you guys recommend, any great offers out there? Pricewise around the 150 quid mark. Thanks.

Edit:
Quite like this one. KDCW6031 for 140 quid, could i do better?

That looks awful :o

I got the Pioneer DEH-P4800MP for £100 @ Car Audio Direct with free delivery ;) I'm sure if you have a quick search you'll bring up my post relating to buying a CD player and you'll find the code to get free delivery too :)

The player itself is fantastic and really improves the audio even on the standard speakers. You can't go wrong with a Pioneer and it even looks good too :p

EDIT:

Free delivery discount code: 7e6e57

That Pioneer looks very nice, i'll definitely be looking into that one, thanks :)

If you have an iPod of another MP3 player then you can buy a 3.5" to 3.5" male to male jack and plug it in the back of the Pioneer so you can listen to music through it :) Works a treat with excellent sound quality too :)

Good luck with deciding on which player to get, feel free to ask any questions regarding the unit and I shall endevaour to answer them

Sounds great, just what i needed and a good price too. My mind is made up...the Pioneer DEH-P4800MP it is ;)

Thanks again for your advice, BeatMaster :)

No problem at all :)

Do let us know how you get on with your new shiny stereo

Enjoy!

Just thought that I'd also post in support of Pioneer

I've had one for a few years and it's very good - far, far better than the Kenwood which was installed in my MG when I bought it. In fact, the Kenwood in my parent's TF (different model) is also dreadful - doesn't bode well for Kenwood stereos!

My Pioneer DEH-P4800MP has just arrived :D Looks very neat. Pity i don't have time to fit it just yet.

BeatMaster, did yours come with a wireless remote?

No wireless remote here. Don't say yours did, if so I'm jealous! :o :p

No it didn't mate but i thought i'd read somewhere that they did, may have been a USA forum though.

Can't wait to get started with the installation but my job gets in the way :(

Btw, thanks for giving me the free delivery code ;)

No problem, share and share a like ;)

Your not really missing much where the remote is concerned though:

The USA Pioneer 4800MP looks a bit fugly compared to the UK one anyway :p

Let us know how you get on installing and using the new shiny stereo.

Finally fitted the Pioneer, had to buy an £8 electrical adapter then installation went very smooth.

It took me a little time to set up the sound the way i like it but as Beatmaster said, even through the factory speakers, the sound is 100% better! (surprisingly powerfull)

I'm now going to buy a couple of new 4X6 front speakers as the front left one has a slight rattle.

I'm very impressed with this £100 player

Glad to hear your enjoying your new Pioneer  There is quite a few options but once your all setup its worth it. The SLA option is not just on CD Player but on AUX 1 and AUX 2 if you decide to use them and its individual settings for each. :)

Yeah - I found that with my Vauxhall and MG

Even the stock speakers sound pretty good with a decent amount of bass when you have a decent head unit installed!

I wonder if all the models have the same speakers but they then stick a cheaper head unit into the cheaper models?

Yep, this head unit has totally breathed new life into my stock rears, nice loud thumping bass which i never knew they were capable of (though my car does have a factory amp).

Got some new JBL front speakers fitted now too so no more rattling and a nice crystal clear mid/high-range sound too.

Just proves that you don't have to spend mega bucks for decent set up.

Many thanks again guys for putting me on the right track.

Pioneer for the win indeed

Hi,

Am not sure if this is the right HU, but does the colours change when changing settings? Or is it just one colour?

Also, is this is a good HU for having a sub? Can you assign bass to any speakers?

Cheers :)

I would say it'll be fine for a sub. There's plenty of setup options where you can choose which range sounds (+fine tune) from front/rear speakers.

I don't think you can change the display colour, the pink glow looks neat though :)
