New chav-wagon

but each one went up in specand or peformance.

he swapped one 2.0 astra for another 2.0 astra there wasn't any point in it :)

Yeah that's true.

Although he did say that his old Astra needed a bit/lot of engine work. Like everyone else here, I had no idea that he was going to get another Astra. Does seem like a bit of a step back really.

I guess I can't talk though... I crashed my first 214 and went out and bought another :)

I was going to have a 216si <£1000k

Regret not having one in someways. :(

 Come on, even I'd rather have a Saxo over a 216Si (this is a bubble shape we're talking about?)

If it was a wedge then it's a totally different story ;)

I spent nearly £3.5k on the Saxo though.

Yes we are talking bubble.

My mum said she wouldn't let me park a rover on the drive though

How roverist!!! :D

lol, my step dad was VERY close to banning me from parking the 220 on the drive (brand new) as it made quite a mess :o

Well, having owned 3 hatches, I just prefer the wedges. The bubble shape never really did anything for me, yet I've seen plenty of standard 200 wedges that look superb... especially when lowered.

Not to mention the bubbles use Maestro rear suspension, whereas the wedges uses the same design as the DC2 Teg.

Lmao, Maestro suspension.

My mate has a 216 5 door, he posts on here sometimes. For £750 and 60k miles it's a steal!!! Although it seems to idle at 1100rpm lol and misfires on tick over.

He has plans for it.......ZR body kit :D

Did they actually downgrade suspension on the newer model or is this comment misleading Rover fanboy spin? :p

Nope, I've read it on both here and Rovertech. The front suspension is the same across models, but the rear suspension is different.

The maestro suposedly handles ruddy well! And i want one! :o

If i rewound to when i bought my 220 NASP i wouldnt have bought it and instead would have had a 220SDI bubble shape or a 216 honda engined coupe, but there you go!

The mk2 200 does share some parts with an ITR believe it or not, not sure if that shows in the handling though tbh

I like the paint job on this car, looks better then it should be on old car ? And I love the Flash Gordon jobbie on the front, you the man now :D

I can understand why you just stuck with the same model, either way 1k is hardly throwing it away

i think this astra could look quite nice when complete, when all the stick on tat has gone, and he's refurbed the wheels.

Thet blue looks a lot nicer than the purple aswell imho.

I know that Rover used to use honda engines. Did they have some sort of long distance relationship going on? :p

Was the maestro a pile of brown stuff to drive?

My mate nearly had an orgasm over seeing a mint one in the scrap yard. "phwoar, imagine this boys, drop an MG lump in and sort the suspension out. Then cage it, it would be the cream of the moonbeam".

He's into his rallying ;)

maestros handle well, tony pond was heard to say "dont change a thing" after test driving an early one

wedge rovers are fun to drive. even mine with its heavy diesel lump and ditchfinder tyres had a level of adjustability no car among its fairly direct competitors (and i've driven a few!, astra mk3, volvo 440 etc etc) could match or even get close to

But of course the Teg and wedge only share suspension in the same way the Evo VI TME and the Mitsubishi Carisma 1.6 share bits - they just happened to share a platform rather than Rover sat down and said 'Lets use Integra suspension for great handling'.

It was lets use Civic/CRX rear setup at the time the R8 platform was developed. The Teg was atleast 4 years later.
