How do you disable the new Touch Optimized interface? It's awful!

That is what i see on my PC this morning.

I'm struggling to see what the issue is.

Then why post?

There is an option in chrome://flags but it doesn't seem to do anything:

Edit Found a solution:

Go to the properties of your chrome shortcut and at the end of the target line add a space then --disable-new-menu-style

Thanks for the fix, not only did the new UI look awful with way too much spacing, but it messed all my live bookmarks up, shifting them over to the right when opening them.

Did you really need to ask that? You post asking for help, I say I'm struggling to see what the issue is, surely you'd understand that to mean elaboration world be required, no?

If you can't see the difference in the pictures you've got bigger problems to worry about.

You're welcome. It's not a popular change from what i'm seeing here:

I can see the difference in the images, but the difference is quite minor in that it looks like the new interface is slightly wider spaced on the options menu, which I will reiterate, based on What's in your image, I'm struggling to see the issue. Is there more to it beyond the options menu spacing or something?

If you can't see the issue why are you posting? Do you even use Chrome, or are you just really bored?

Having to move your mouse a centimetre further to click something was definitely worthy of a thread.

From the person who brought us such gems as "DivX on the iPhone at last!"

Morfik, the arbiter of all that is Thread worthy!

Will there ever be a day when OcUK isn't full of trolls?

To find out what the issue is? Because, again, based on the image you posted, your complaint looked to be because stuff was a bit more spaced out. What's so hard to get about that that you keep having to ask why I posted? Wow...

I don't think troll means what you think it means.

Can you be more specific about the fix?

What are 'properties' of the chrome shortcut? Do you mean just adding a space to the end of the URL?

If so.. I've done that, change the setting and it still doesn't work :-(

I've also tried adding a space, and putting the extra bit of the url in (--disable new style etc ..) and it doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong?

Why on earth are some people being complete arses about this? What's the issue?

Something has changed. Some people don't like it. There has been a fix posted for those that don't. Surely that's all the justification this thread needs, I'm damn glad it exists as it's fixed it for me. It's not just the extra spacing that this results in with menus etc. but it also completes mucked up my live bookmarks/Foxish RSS bar and aligned it all over the place. Now it's back to normal.

I also struggle to see what the issue is I don't get any problems.

Don't say that you may have to explain yourself,

I hadn't noticed the update but then the only time I'm in the settings menu is to clear my history every now and a again which takes such little time the size of the menu is somewhat irrelevant.

Internet browser is for browsing

Always will get a mix of people liking/disliking things. :)

Indeed, but that's no reason to jump on people who don't like something AND provide a fix for others that don't.

Repeatedly saying "I'm struggling to see what the issue is" isn't really any help is it to anyone, is it?

The change was brought in because people complained that touch screens were suffering by selecting the wrong/multiple option(s). But they have not implemented it intelligently.

It makes no difference now, but if they introduce more touch UI features, I want to turn it off, hence why I want to know how to turn it off now.

Have to say I don't mind this. I was a bit surprised to discover this last night; I wondered where it came from. I thought something was running on my PC to change Chrome's UI. :)
