Indeed. Very, very annoying. The fix from when Google first made the interface change no longer works, I suppose this was inevitable.
I'd switch back to Firefox if I hadn't got so used to the seamless Google integration across my devices. That part works well, as does this spacing on my Nexus7. But not on my poxy PCs!</wanders_off_mumbling>
Google are bringing back proper spacing. The new flag is --force-fieldtrials="NewMenuStyle/Compact2/"
You think that is the worst part of the new chrome updates?
This is by far the worst.
Why do I need another search bar with Google written above it when my address bar does exactly that. Much preferred having the 8 previews of most visited sites!
Seems the "fix" is now in the current build, all my Chrome installs have gone back to the smaller spacing by themselves this morning.

Mine has too, I think. Can't remember now as got used to the spacing, hated it at first but can't tell now if the spacing is gone or not.
My comment was based on the opening post, in that the op was complaining and saying how much he hated it, from what I could see in the image, the change was incredibly minor, hence my comments and further qualification later asking if it's more than just what's shown in the OP, or if that's the entirety of the change.
Indeed, but that's no reason to jump on people who don't like something AND provide a fix for others that don't.
Repeatedly saying "I'm struggling to see what the issue is" isn't really any help is it to anyone, is it?
I agree with this. It's a change some people don't like and the OP even posted a fix for those users.
Why moan about it? If you like the change then you can just not apply the fix.
