New clutch?

My car doesn't like me doing burnouts in it any more, so i think a new clutch is needed lol

The current clutch is about 6 months old. I've had the car 3 months, and it's starting to smell quite bad, and the biting point is now very high on the car. Ooops :p

I could just get a new standard clutch, but im now looking into a sports clutch. Was looking at the Black Diamond sports clutch which i can get for around £150.

My cousin who has a subaru impreza, said that for the way i drive it will be very good, due to it being able to take a little bit more wear and tear etc...

Anyone got any experience of comments regarding this?

Thanks,

Andy

I love your threads, especially the ones in Motors :D

Well yes, an uprated clutch is one solution to your problem. Another, far better solution, is to stop driving like a **** tard.

Ummm ,, what car have you got m8 ?

Lupo 1.4 sport.

Pushing 107bhp w00t :P but new powerflow exhaust, bmc cda air filter, fse boost valve going on soon, so will be pushing around 135bhp with a remap too, so want a clutch to be able to take that :)

If my clutch lasted 6 months on my lupo, id be asking for money back...

Thats crazy.

Maybe on something with silly torque, but not a 1.4 lupo...

He seems to have a knack for doing 'burnouts'. Why, I don't know, but it'll sure kill the clutch in no time.

A standard clutch will be grand, 135bhp is nothing, especially with so little torque. Just stop driving like a bloody eejit and it should last longer :p

Six months? What are you doing to it

(I'm also guessing that the thing was fine until 3 months ago ;) )

An uprated clutch would solve your problem (or it might buy you 8 months anyway!) but as has already been suggested, there is another way to solve your problem. ;)

The clutch was a bit dodgy when i got it, the ocassional smell of it burning, and a high bite, but over time it's now higher.

All that money spent on a lupo, and then all that extra you're gunna be adding to your insurance. Hardly worth it in my opinion. 135bhp sounds rather off imo too, could be wrong though :)

That's a good point actually, how much are all these mods adding to your insurance? I doubt you'll get anywhere near 135bhp to be quite honest with you.

Already got air filter and window tints and extra cover for my audio and it came to £152.

An air filter and a remap on a 1.4 NA petrol engine is going to give you 28bhp? I'd be wary of those figures, I'd expect an absolute max of 10bhp at most and even that is optimistic.

And a complete exhaust system yes :)

Know other people with the same car who have the same results.

Results, as in RR'd before and after at the same place?

If so its a good increase considering but still stupidly expensive imo

Guestimates of with RR graphs to prove it? It seems very optimistic. Take for example my car, a 1.8 20v turbo engine. A remap, air filter and an exhaust will give it around an extra 35bhp. Considering it already puts out 180bhp and is turbocharged, the percentage gain is about right ~20%. An extra 28bhp out of your standard 1.4 107bhp NA engine would equate to an increase of over 25%. That's a hell of an increase on such a small NA engine with what are basic upgrades.

Anyway, back to the clutch. A performance clutch will last you longer, but still not much longer if you continue to spin your wheels in McDonalds car park like a chav. If you drive the car with some mechanical sympathy, a standard clutch will be sufficient to see you for a good 50k miles at least.

Ive got a ""racing clutch"" in my rx7 and even now after having the car 2 years i still stall it lol...Thay are good but expect a more on or off action :)

Yeah u r dreaming on your bhp figures chap

like the guy above said RR figures are a joke, just guesses plucked out the air..

a new standerd clutch will be more than good enough on a 1.4.. just stop driving like a loon

and as also said sports clutches are very dodgy u will stall it all the time

Seriously what is the point in this thread/doing burnout's in a lupo or just any car/ and spending loads of money on a 1.4 lupo?

Just get a normal clutch and dont do burnout's tbqfh
