From what I can tell the two major ones are Worcester and Vaillent but Intergas seem to be quite highly regarded and supposedly have less to go wrong in them.
I don't have particularly deep knowledge, but I think Worcester Bosch and Vaillant are both good brands which make good products and both worth considering. These are the two makes I think of when it comes to boilers.
I went with a Worcester Bosch. Every installer locally only recommended them (are they being incentivised by the manufacturer? I don't know!) so in the end I went with the installer who claimed to fit the highest number in Essex. He was fantastic and came out the cheapest of all the quotes after negotiation.
All in all I got a Worcester 18RI, Worecester Bosch unvented cylinder (which increased the warranty for both Worecester parts to 8 years) and a Nest installed for £3.8k.
Going for an Ideal Vogue this summer for our new central heating. From what I've read its very good, stainless exchange plus 10 year warranty. Plus its Opentherm compatible straight away.
I read somewhere recently that whatever boiler I decide to purchase, pick one with a SS heat exchanger rather than an aluminium one as they last a lot longer.
