New company logo

No nothing about your character. But I'm just trying to understand why someone would chose between two companies based on their logo's? ]

I'm not a designer and I'll probably never be able to design a good logo. Nor can I afford to pay for a good logo at the moment. But that doesn't mean I'm not good at what I do?

I don't remember companies by their logo. I'm just surprised that some people do think that way :\

lol, no not a quick edit. I was in the middle of typing out a longer reply but gave up :p

Sorry to the OP for going off topic :) I'll let it carry on as normal now.

Read back mate I never said I wouldn't buy from a company with a poor logo, I just believe that when it comes to anything that the customer see's (and a logo will be seen by them a lot) presentation and quality should be a massive priority, first impressions and all that.

Say you had your own internet company, you could be the most trustworthy, cheapest company in the field with the best customer service ever but if your website is shoddy, you will lose a massive amount of business, I personally believe this is the same sorta thing :) Customers wont know the quality of a company until they have already committed to a transaction with them, all they have to go on beforehand is what you show them, the logo being a major part of that :)

I can gurantee if I posted snippets of certain companies logos you would be able to tell me the company in question. Its completely subconscious but these things do dig in your mind :) Anyway im starting to de-rail this thread a bit, sorry!

Here's one that I knocked up in a couple of minutes from one of those designs. I kept the same colour scheme and general style but gave it a slightly cleaner, more modern look, also removed the gradients as generally these tend not to scale too well.

I agree that the concept of the third one down on the right is the better of the bunch. None of the them scream "bath products" to me though. I think the fizzing/bubble idea needs to be expanded upon.

They look quite corporate- and I think warmer and more enticing colours would be more appropriate than the cold/pure blue and white colours. After all, you're selling bathroom cosmetics, not water.

Definitely avoid fourth down on the right - it looks like a cleaning product's logo for "Ass products" :o.

Think: what is the sole purpose of a logo? ;) :)

I do understand the reason for logos. However it seems designers have a tendancy to analyse their designs much more than the customer ever will.

I just think there are more important things to be getting on with, when starting up a business :) I know I spent a lot of time on my logo, til eventually I just made do with my last design, because I had better things to be getting on with.

I'm sure with a bit of tweaking the third one down on the right will be sound.

Sounds like the best option to me :) Who designed those logos for you? And how much did it cost you for those designs if you don't mind me asking.

I agree about the colour, I'm possibly thinking a pale green / pale yellow / white theme perhaps.

Thanks for the different design ideas samhandwich.

As for the cost, the webiste is £1200 plus £100 for logo design, letterheaded design etc.

Most quotes were £5500 upto £12000 so we know we won't get a bespoke website but I'm quite confident it will do a good job for us.
Also were not paying till it's been up and running for 3 months which seems fair enough.

<cough> what about mine!.. :p

I should definitely get further into graphics. Almost bought a photoshop book today..

Aww.. but i like my waves.. they are watery.. wavey watery waves!

Although, that does look rather professional.

Just realised, but why is one of them a registered trademark?

Your logo was fantastic, however we are getting a brand new website and they asked us if we would like a new logo and full branding (letterheaded paper, business cards etc). We thought yeah start a fresh, new image and all that so thats why.

What did surprise me was the quality of their logos done by a designer, to be honest not as good as some of those done on here so I need to get back to them with some guidance on what I'm after.

I still wouldn't even rule out using one from here!

Was only joking lol :P

No offence intended, but that looks like your bog standard Counter Strike Clan logo. The "curly" brackets really dont suit a corperate identity. If this causes offence I apollogise, but Im just voicing my opinion.

Back on topic though, personally I would look elsewhere for your company's "re-jig".

:)
