yep true I could see that happening pretty easily :P
btw thanx for all your speedy replies. so with this building where am I likely to go wrong? is there a chance I could destroy a nice expensive component?

no there is a lot of easy guides to use

also here is a 1200 spec for you... if you ever decided to overclock its simmler to my system and im getting 13000+ on 3dmarks 06

looks like I'd be getting a much better GPU with this spec, is v.tempting. with this spec I should be able to run games maxed out with graphics then or just at a mid-high level?

Yes.

Could do with a bigger monitor with a GTX, 19" would be too small. Better off getting a 640MB GTS.

im on a 19" moniter .. there is only 128mb diffrence in how much memory the card has its more the card speed than the memory size... it will have higher fps in games regardless... and unless £1300 is availablea 19" moniter is his best option..... either way the gtx will run faster

Oh yeah, I don't dispute that the memory and core MHz and other elements are important but remember he's on a 1K budget and for a 19" monitor he's going to get similar FPS at 1280 with a GTS and a GTX and for the money its best saved.

you are right but he said 1200 at a push so was giving an option for 1200... its either a gtx or a 22"moniter

if only money was no object for everyone

500GB of HDD space (could get rid of one of the HDDs to save a bit of cash).

2GB RAM.

20" WS Monitor.

640mb GTS.

One of the best cases available.

Top quality PSU.

Doubt you'll get any better than that for the money. :)

semi-pro waster I'm currently also playing CnC3 which I dont think is compatible with 64 vista, would a 32 version be just as good?

A freind is running C&C3 on vista 64 with a 320mb 8800 (19" w/screen), runs fine but cant run at ultra settings.

dingle thanx for the spec. are the extra fans/cooling etc for overclocking? because I wont be going in for any of that (not confident enough tbh) or do cases come lacking them? :/

The case doesn't come with any fans.

Edit: The Tuniq Tower is for overclocking, though you could probably still overclock a bit with the stock HS/F. I know you said you don't want to, but it's so easy to get 3GHz out of the C2Ds.

if he isnt overclocking he would be a lot better off with the e6600 and a cheaper case or onboard sound

Other than still needing to add a copy of windows onto the price list.
