Hello,

Its came to the time again where i need to get a new pc. Seems my current computer decided to give up this morning, and i have been thinking of a new one for some time now.

I have been discussing specs with a mate today and came to this one so far-

Thats hopefully everything i will need apart from the Motherboard. I have been trying to choose one but i havent got a clue what to go for.

I was trying to build the spec to something that will overclock well (take advantage of my water cooling), play the latest games at decent specs, and just for general use. I would like to stick too the £750 mark if possible. But if its worth the extra money.... Then im open to it.

Have now added (Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard).

Seems a good price for the whole rig, unless there is anyone who can see some changes to be made?

Hello again, just little update to the spes. Thinking it would be a good idea to spend the extra money and go down the 4870 Ati route...

Would anyone be able to shed some light if this is a good decision?

I think mostly nvidia vs ati is personal preference. I dont know which card is better.
Anyhow do you already own a 32 bit vista copy?

Well the 9800GT is a rebadged 8800GT with more memory so it's expensive for what it is. Either the 4870 1GB or GTX 260 maxcore are better options. Just make sure with the GTX you get the 216SP version and not the 192SP version.

The Antex Three hundred is a decent case and a lot cheaper. Up to you though, it's your cash. Spending so much on a case near makes me weep.

This memory might be good ! for £4 extra

I have spent more on cases and it is well worth it. You dont know what your missing if you have never had a decent case.

Although im not a fan of the 1200, much prefer lian li's

Cheers for the advice guys. I quite like the idea of the antec 12 just because of its sheer size, im going to transfer my water cooling system so the bigger the better for me. My current case is a Asus Vento 3600 so i really need something big to work in!

The only thing changed to the spec is a different power supply. I have now went for the - Corsair TX 750W ATX2.2 SLI Compliant PSU

Does anyone have any views on this PSU? I think 750 will be all i need, even if i was to go Crossfire in the future, it just seems that anything bigger than a 750W seems to have a big price jump!

Hopefully will get to order in the next hour!

I had the Corsair PSU, the only complant was it was noisey if it did not have direct fresh air.
There are plenty of connectors and stable in use, the PSU keeps the fan running at low speed after shut down for a few minutes to cool it down if it does get warm.

Not modular if that bothers you.

Ah i see, i wasnt if a modular would be a benifit or not?

Could you recomend a PSU for this spec? im quite warey about what one to get as a PSU is the route of my problems in having to get this new rig as my Hiper 580w just decided to give up on me the other day!

I strongly advise you don't get the DVD writer, they are plaqued with faults. Mine got RMA's and so has several others on here. Get one of these instead: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-063-PO

Bit dearer, but I was advised to get this unit by ocuk as they use it on a lot of their builds and have had no probs with it, and nor have I since :)

Thanks for that heads up, have now added it to the spec instead

Did a quick calculation on PSU calculator the other day for a ruff estimate and gave full load at 488w with crossfire 4870 and your cpu.

I should have probably added that i would prefer a very quiet PSU. Going from a hiper i cant stand noise! With the Type R, there was always a humming noise that could be heard:mad:
