Hey, first off, I'm new here so hello to everyone.

So I'm wanting a new gaming computer for my 20th just using some of the money I get from my birthday along with my savings. Not sure right now as to what to go for. Will be buying everything from overclockers.

Heres what I have, feel free to make amendments:

Total : £3,173.69 (includes shipping : £22.20).

Have I missed anything important? Not sure what headset I'll be needing as of yet but leaning towards PC 350's.

To explain my choices in SSD's - Small one for windows/key programs, big SSD for games. And I'm gonna use my HD from this computer for junk (Music/Movies/Silly files and what not).

As for water cooling, its new to me - How does it all work ?

This Rig wont be set up for another month, like I said, Birthday present kind of, so wont have it till end of October.

Any help is most appreciated,

Gerard

::EDIT::

Heard theres some new Graphics cards coming out on the market soon, so the 780's arent set in stone. Wanna see if there is gonna be better options available :)

Sorry for the slow reply.

I want my Processor OC (I dont know what WC means:confused:) and I have no idea how to do that myself so was just gonna buy it OC'ed.

I also heard 780's are like the best card out, is there no way I could buy that and have a soundcard? Or did you mean I couldnt run a soundcard with Dual 7970's? As I want a soundcard for my new Headset but dont wanna run external.

I also like the idea of having 2 SSD's ( The really big one and one really small one ) as I already have a HD that I would take from this computer for everything else that can be classed as junk :)

Colour Scheme? I guess I would like a Black Case but can go for a Gun Metal or perhaps even a white one if the case looks okay in design. Also like the idea of Blue LED (Got blue in this current setup but not enough of it!:p)

Though feel free to change the lighting colour around as you may change my mind! :)

WC is water cooling

They are fantastic cards, but they come with a premium. This does not make them good value for money. If that's not an issue, then go for them, but the current price of the 7970's make them a superb alternative.

Why have a big & small when you can fit in 2x256gb SSD's in your budget?

The NZXT Hue will allow you to change the colour of the LED's which come with it. You get 2 meters of LED cable with a variety of colours. The theme was more to create a build with a colour theme. If you wanted Blue throughout, we'd spec one.

Okay so I should get a CPU Cooler and WC for overclocking?

Dual 7970's is greater than just one Gtx 780? Just I'm wanting this computer to last me a solid 4/5 years atleast before I even have to think about upgrading a single piece so wanting to range stuff.

Ehm, I don't know, Just put together some themes for me then, Not to bothered :D

I like it, Dont like the case however and may change the hard drives.

I see what your getting at for the SSDs, but why limit yourself with the potential too have not enough space when you could have ample with2x250/256gb SSDs?

How Will I not have enough space? 120gb SSD/1TB SSD/500GB HD in one pc? Sounds like plenty even though my games alone take up atleast 500GB :D

So dual 7970's it will be I guess if I dont go for dual Gtx 780's.

Anyone else got any ideas for builds?

Im still not sure thats the best idea... Spending nearly £600 on SSD's when for half that you can get 500GB of SSD space which will be a good 50%+ quicker? And then additional 2-3TB hard drive for the rest of the junk. :)

and a nice £200 saved..

I think thats a better idea.

Well is there any way I could get like a really small SSD for Windows/Main files then one 500GB for games ? Dont wanna split my games over 2SSDs haha

Their is no good reason not to split them, you are getting some quality advice here, I would listen to it. get ~256gb ssd and a 3tb drive. 256 tb is enough for Windows 8, all productivity software (office etc) and 100gb of games, with 50gb left spare. Put your documents, music, videos and games you dont access often on the hard drive.

p.s. I'd also go 16gb ram and run a 4gb ram drive. Put firefox cache and a 2gb swap file on their.

hmm

i'll toy about with the build again tonight and link you guys to a knew one!

Finee finee, I'll stop messing around.

I guess I'll go for this one then, only problems are I dont really like this case (Can anyone think of a possible change of case) and it doesnt have a Soundcard (Would it be able to fit one?) Also is it possible to change to blue rather than green:D

In regards to selling 2nd hand parts, once I get this I'll have a lot to sell from this pc, too bad I cant sell them on here:(

You can change the rings on the fans (of the watercooler) for Blue ones (they come with them i assume)..

The sound card will fit ontop of the first GPU.

Lots of blue. :)

Warning on the RAM:

:D

Think I'll go for this one, purely cause I love the RAM warning (and colours :D)

Apologies for reviving my old (dead) thread! But seeing as my birthday is just a few days away I've changed my mind on the computer!

Colours Black and Red

and must haves r290x and 4770k

Must run all games on ulta/maxxed out

No worries, i like when people use their old threads.. i stops people re-asking you questions..

I like the scheme and the parts you want.. though the 290x stock cooler is noisy and hot so i have 2 suggestion for you (pick one):

1) wait until OEM cards are released with updated (better) cooling
2) Custom watercool the build

Which of these options appeal to you most? :D

Custom Water cool sounds nice, however, I've never done it before! But if its easy and I can get a step by step guide ill do it:D Unless you know how long it'll be for OEM cards and I could just build the system using current cards then add new ones in later?

Watercooled (not many changes)

Probably go for the water cooling, just gonna ask some of my friends if they know anything of water cooling to help me set it up!

But I need to change the price up a little, seeing as I finally decided to pull the finger out and get driving! (little intensive course with a car to follow soon. ( sorry forgot to mention this in the post earlier ).

Things That I could scrap:

-Monitor ( use my current )
-Hard Drive ( use my current, though keep the SSD's in the list as I dont have any )
-Sound Card (Heard the r290x comes with a sound thingy?)
-Reduce graphics card to one (will xfire in coming months)

Let me know if theres anything else that can be adjusted slightly whilst still maximising performance.

Sorry about the hassle DoomedSpeed, feel bad now:(

Thats fine, don't feel bad..

That is why i do these specs, so people can actually see what thy are asking for and what the price will be..

I've got in down to £2k...

The Loop is still able to take another card so you can add that later (though you'll need to bleed the loop and re-fill it)

I only included 1 SSD as the EVO have rapid mode which (near enough ) doubles there speed.. Im not sure if this works in RAID or not ( i doubt it).. which means you can add another SSD when the funds become available..

Had to change the RAM as the Corsair RED has vanished from the website..

Watercooling wise, do you have any preference on tube res or bay res? or are you not worried.. I've gone with a tube res just because i think it looks better (look at 8-packs rigs) but Bay res (mount in the 5.25" bays) are easier to fix in position..

Is this more the price range?

Looks good man! Will wait on the OEM cards coming out for the 290x thats for sure...don't want a noisy system! And is watercooling fairly easy to set up (I know you sent me a link but would you perhaps know from what you've heard, and is it like high risk (leaks and what not?)
