Family member wants a desktop PC which can use a built in firewire card which clips into the mobo

The one we found has a pci express x16 slot...

Will these firewire cards work OK?

Yeah should work fine. FireWire has been superseded by USB 3.1 and even USB 3.0 AFAIK?

According to the site I found those cards on, the first one won't work in a pci express slot. Which is what I initially thought when looking at the connectors.

The second one however is a pci express 1x which will work fine

Sorry yes, first one is PCI and is very old. Second one will be fine though.
